Hi ATS, Computer-savvy People.

I need help getting into the chat room.

I've uninstalled my flash drive, and reinstalled it, I've looked at my Java settings, but they look okay to me.

I don't know what else to do. I need help!

I have Windows XP, and use Google Chrome.

Please help!!! I miss talking to my buddies in the chat room.

I kept getting kicked out this morning too. I just gave up finally.
My computer seems to be in a mood today anyway though, it will probably get shut off today because of it.
Good Luck!

I was trying hard to meet another member in there the other night and they were having the same issues. I even set up a chat room on my own web server as the matter to discuss was well worth the effort. Same outcome as yours.

We gave up but apparently the other person came back to the problem and did a 100% clearing of the browser cache files, closed it and reopened it. They popped in to surprise me after I'd sadly written off being able to accomplish anything that evening. Perhaps it will work for you too? Just my two cents if it helps.

It says it updates automatically. I think I did that anyway, and it said I had the latest version. I'll try again.
Thank you.

Is that the history? I deleted all that. If it's something different, tell me how to do it.

Thanks!

Okay, I did everything that was recommended here; I even installed activeX. Still not working!!!

I'm beginning to think there is a glitch in the ATS program, especially since I see another member is having the same problem.

I emailed ATS about this last week, but still no reply.

I'm frustrated! I have to get off here for awhile and cool down.
BLASTED #%$%%$%$##%!!!!!! COMPUTERS!

Just checked it out- seemed to be working fine for me. Didn't stick around though, no conversation happening right now.

Shouldn't it show our user name as being there? Mine is just a blank white screen. Did yours show you?

If you are using chrome, click on the icon that is simply 3 horizontal lines on your top bar area. The menu (sorry if you know all this... It's easier than assuming and seeing everyone get frustrated). Under that you want the Tools Menu, then Clear Browsing Data. In the pop up box that should come next, you want ONLY boxes 1, 2 and 4 checked. Those are Browsing History, Download History and Cache, in that order.

You really only NEED #4, Cache, for what the suggestion is, but I hit all 3 of them in case something exists in one place and conflicts with anything else.

You may also want to download a free utility from Piriform called CCleaner. It's a general utility that I've seen mentioned here before and you'll find reviewed on places like Cnet and PC Magazine among others, if you're concerned about downloading something based on an internet tip.

What it does it basically what the Browser commands do but in a more thorough and complete way. You can also set it to "Add Bleach" which, depending on settings, will make anything you delete impossible to recover outside of specialized skills and forensic data recovery methods. (think FBI or very high dollar commercial services)

Hope that helps? If nothing else? Check other 'free chat rooms' around the net. ATS uses what looks like a modified and proprietary interface but the underlying technology is common to almost all the chat rooms accessible without a special software (Like IRC, which requires a client to connect with). I say this because while ATS may not have your answer, you should be finding none of the others work either. Just as the other member found with my server and I cycled through 3 different pieces of software to try and make it work.

^^^ Those other services may well have tech support forums where the question has been answered in some detail which will work for your situation?

When you click the chat button up top here..

what do you see?

Is it a blank white page or can you see the chat rules but not the box to click to get in?

Sometimes I see the box to get in... then a blank white screen. Other times it goes straight to a blank white screen.

The box came up where you agree to rules of chat, I clicked agree, a box came up asking me if I wanted to run chat's newish Java chat client program, I clicked run, chat window came up, I picked my color font and clicked on [ ] so the window where you can type came up, I asked if anyone was in there since no convo was going on and Morg answered, saw my name on list of who's in chat, logged out and came back to report.

Thanks. Nothing like that came up for me; just the blank white screen.

I gotta run some errands. If anyone has any other advice, please post, and I'll check it when I get back.

Just make sure your pop-up blocker is turned off. Sometimes having it on can mess with chat. Good luck!

Go to the introductory forum and welcome all the new people to ATS. That will get you several posts right there.

The chat room is pretty good, depending who is there, I guess. The only two times I've been there I've had a private conversation with my friend about his strange dreams.
Maybe someone else here can help you out with the chat room.
