I for one am tired of seeing multiple threads for the same topic pop up. I would much rather go to a "Quake, Volcano, Solar Watch" thread for the year than see several postings of the same incident crop up. This way you can see trends on the subject and what to look for in coming days, weeks or years.

I am also irked by the terrible spelling that is showing up and close a thread when this occurs. If something is earth shattering or peaks my interest i will read every page otherwise it is the back button for me to review other postings.

I also agree that topics are becoming more and more insignificant and not worth my time to check out. This is just how I am perceiving things lately.

There are some sites that are frequented by some pretty knowledgeable members and i notice that lately they have been posting replies less these days so maybe the OP is on to something???

However, Google Analytics shows normal traffic for this time of year...

Looks to be a very steep drop off at the very end of your google thingy. 200k unique to 100k unique, but seems to be very short time frame, like 3-5 days at most.

Must be as you say, throttled back the tags because there are just too many things in your head.

lets just say that's the reason and leave it be. revisit it again in 4-6 weeks and take another peak.

Cheers

i havin't read a good story highlighted on the main page in quite some time. But then again i am not a sheeple so wars and all that nonsense don't interest me. Just games of the Owl reptillians from pleiades.

Gotta love the fact our government is a bunch of vultures squaking around with a cocked neck and plummed feathers.

But people need to do their research first to even have the slightest clue what i am talking about.

But Yeah i kind of skip straight through the politics and check out the ancient discovery posts, metaphysics and spirituality and he aliens forum.

Im not like Alex jones. Constantly rambling on about the government taking our rights this that. Things that are enevitable and will happen anyways. Reguardless the pleiadesa are here and are preparing for invasion. For all the sheeple who can do nothing about it. Take the words of a dying man: well if there is nothing you can do about it why worry then?

Seems like the biggest drop is in US viewers.

Maybe they don't appreciate the international flavor!

That and school started back up.

I'm posting less and less, even though I still come here everyday. One can only delve into the same topics for so long before we become desensitized to them. For me, I'm full up when it comes to UFO's, or rather pics and clips of dots in the sky, or lights, or blurred images, or grainy videos, or CGI hoaxes. If a UFO thread title isn't "Alien Spaceship lands in busy city!" I"m probably not going to open it.

Sites like ATS need a constant flow of newbies that will look at the topics as fresh and new.

Sometimes people take breaks to regain a little sanity.

I took a two year break, now I've been back for a couple of years.

Maybe others are doing the same.

Hey, there is this really cool web site called Yahoo search engine at www.yahoo.com you should try it some day,its really cool.

Above Top Secret is a news discussion forum created by Simon Gray in 1999 as a discussion board for conspiracy,[1] and a site for general information about conspiracy topics.[2] Today, Above Top Secret is more commonly used to discuss current news articles as the Breaking News forum makes up the largest percentage of content.,[3] and a site for general information about conspiracy topics.[2] Currently under the ownership of The Above Network, LLC (Incorporated in Delaware, United States). ATS has been used by some popular conspiracy writers such as Jim Marrs, John Lear (banned from making new posts or threads on ATS since 2008[4] ) and Scott Creighton.

As of January 2010, ATS claims it has almost 10 million posts with over 4 million visits to the site a month. As of August 2010 it is ranked 2,546 in the U.S. by Alexa.[5] It is now mostly run by Mark "Springer" Allin and William "Skeptic Overlord" Irvine. Administrators maintain that Simon Gray is very much still involved with Above Top Secret but no longer publicly posts in the forum. Mark "Springer" Allin does promotional activities such as going on the radio show Coast to Coast AM to promote the site while William Irvine tailors ATS to appeal to the public. William Irvine was brought on to Above Top Secret for his background in developing web technologies for larger business.

Speaking for myself as well as for some other people who used to frequent this site, I can tell you people - especially intelligent and highly educated people - have lost interest in this site because there is hardly any discussion left.
Posters come here, don't even bother to READ other people's responses, state their opinion and leave.
New threads are opened every day instead of adding to valuable old threads, hoax after old hoax is rehashed, over and over and bloody over again, with no civility and no sense of humor left. There is barely any DIALOG left, let alone intelligent dialog.

FYI, this sort of degradation was predicted, several times, as far back as four or five years ago, when the overall quality of discussion started slipping visibly. Some agreed, the majority didn't seem to care, so those "kassandras" - a true asset to any human congregation anywhere - left.

There are many other things and venues in life to visit and enjoy. Why waste one's resources for the paltry payoff of seeing one's user name on a screen and very little more?
It's as simple as that.

I myself think the content has gone a bit boring.
But what I have noticed is the mods seem to be closing lots of threads.

If there was a problem with a post on a thread....it would be deleted or whatever.
Now, the mods seem to close the whole thread down.

9/11 threads seemed to disappear for a while and now there's hardly a discussion on it....which I think is quite sad because that is one conspiracy that people should continue to discuss.

Then you have Sandy Hook.
Now I know some people went in strange directions with it but nearly every thread is closed on that subject.
Just when more videos were coming out showing the conflicting reports by police and the media.....ATS seemed to brush them aside and now it's not even discussed.

Here's the real answer. There is no change. It is statistically impossible to be humming along at X, then suddenly see a big drop to Y in one or two days. SO is correct. It is a problem with the statistics, not the traffic. If you tweak something, suddenly your comparison statistics are all off. I ran a 35 server web site and also a 35,000 user ISP at one time, and I ran into this kind of problem constantly. I even had a server dedicated to measuring traffic. Any little thing you did would affect the statistics. There are also phantom users on most 'Nix systems, I especially had problems with my Solaris system, but no Linux system was immune. Measuring statistics for web sites is notoriously unreliable.

The speculation as to why posted here is typical ATS. It has nothing to do with reality. It's not because people are posting trash, not because of "stupid gun threads," not because of any abnormal behavior on the part of ATS members. You are looking at a completely superficial statistic and weaving a vast speculative conspiracy around it that is only in your own mind.

It may have been due to a recent Denial of service attack and posting by the hacker's known as anonymous, I will not go into details but they found some enlightening but not disturbing thing's out.

A shame as I have no problem except the deletion on thread's based on there finding's as that it just unethical and not in line with the US own law's but hey if it is truly for a good reason so be it.

Thanks for the op ed. The sit-rep, the low down, the gospel.

The site is getting a fair amount of new sign ups, so that helps, but it appears we are losing long time old hands.

I am 100% sure it willall be OK, lets look at at in 4-6 weeks ok.
