Hoary ATS Cliches

After reading with a sigh yet another alarmist thread about Korea tonight with a post saying 'And so it begins....' , I thought I'd write a thread of the most clumsy, hoary, hackneyed cliches found repeatedly on this once fine website.

1) And so it begins (referring to imminent WW3, natural disaster, etc...... see above) ;
2) Ill-informed claims that we only use 5 or 10 percent of our brain ;
3) Quoting Ocam's Razor inappropriately ;
4) Claims that if you disagree with someone, you are a CIA plant / closet racist / troll ;
5) When someone can't successfully debate against an opponent, pick on spelling or grammar ;
6) ATS police and pedants whining 'But there's already a thread on this from 2001!'

Feel free to add to this list - I'm sure we can go on and on....

PROOF! (often in an all caps title.)
EVIDENCE (same)
DISCLOSURE (in OP)

And always the reliable : "my speculation is going to be presented as fact and if attacked you are a shill".



I actually did a similar thread a long time ago about maybe they let all these key phrases through and exist because searches lead more to here and to ATS advertisers and ATS that means more money....

but I'm done questioning the integrity of ATS higher-ups.

I think it's just the downward progression that is evolving.

I will now quickly browse google for scientific studies that look as if they support my position even though I'd find out that they actually don't if I bothered to read the study instead of the 300 word summary."

I LOVE "and so it begins..."! Here is something fun I have found myself doing: look at each thread title, and imagine posting, "and so it begins.." in reply.

Are some people getting a little elitist here? must every post be really long? we have conversations in real life where we ask for information in just a few words. Same here.

Sometimes, less is more.

What is wrong with being concise?

I am guilty of being short with my replies, but, I usually just get to the point and say what I want to say rather than drone on and on about it. But, that's just me..

My favorite would have to be anything with 'sheeple' in it..
