It really makes my skin crawl because I can't understand why people are such sheep.

Government is made up of crooked Politicians that are owned by a few multinationals. This is both Democrat and Republican. When Obama talks about class warfare and the evil rich, it's pure nonsense. Obama, Bush and other Presidents are run by these multinationals.

The gap between the rich and poor has grown under Obama and Corporate profits are at an all time high. You often hear Politicians talk about the Great Depression and how we're avoiding economic disaster and it's just a flat out lie.

The way it works is crooked Politicians scare people about the economy and then the Fed goes on a cheap money printing spree. This takes wealth from the American people and transfers it to a few multinationals who invest that money overseas in emerging markets.

THIS IS SIMPLY CRIMINAL!

Yet, people scream for more Government and they worship crooked Politicians in both the Democrat and Republican parties.

Just think about it. If they really wanted to help local communities, they would give that money to state Banks and Credit Union with the stipulation that 85-90% goes to the local communities. There would be a boom in consumption which will produce more jobs. Instead, HUGE SUMS of money goes to places like Goldman Sachs and other multinationals. They're literally stealing billions of dollars and crooked Politicians are accomplices.

Here's a good video by Reagan's former OMB Director David Stockman about the Feds printing party. Also, I know as soon as Democrats see Reagan former OMB Director, all rational thinking will shut down and everything will resort to Republican vs. Democrat. This is about the Destruction that has occurred under both parties.

One of the things he says is:

Then, when the Fed’s fire hoses started spraying an elephant soup of liquidity injections in every direction and its balance sheet grew by $1.3 trillion in just thirteen weeks compared to $850 billion during its first ninety-four years, I became convinced that the Fed was flying by the seat of its pants, making it up as it went along. It was evident that its aim was to stop the hissy fit on Wall Street and that the threat of a Great Depression 2.0 was just a cover story for a panicked spree of money printing that exceeded any other episode in recorded human history.

Also, with the world becoming more global and more interconnected, we need Big Government less and less. My 3 and 4 year old nephew will not need Government in the same way as my 80 year old Aunt. So the Government programs we're fighting about today might not even be needed tomorrow with advancement in science and technology. If Government keeps growing it will just use this technology to gain even more control over our lives.

Some people love big government, because it takes the focus off them, while they live on government handouts, instead of working like a lot of us.

A lot of us, have paid into the system our whole lives in order to recieve our Social Security, in our retirement. I'm only a few years away from that.

Where do you think all the money to support, all the millions of people, now living on entitlement programs, is going to come from when they reach retirement age. OUR SS retirement fees.

The world of diminishing returns, or the snake eating it's own tail, is our reality.

They think that government is there to take care of them.

Meanwhile, politicians are incredibly corrupt, dishonest, wasteful and hate their constituents.

Forget about the fact that people are poorer, freedoms are fewer and things are getting worse not in spite of but because of government.

But, the government has our very best interests in mind. Taking care of us is their number one priority. They would never lie or cheat or steal or do anything unethical, because, they care about us.

You shouldn't be questioning authority.

Just turn on your television and have a little snack. Everything will be just fine, the government has us all everything under control.

Good points!

Governments are owned by multinationals in both parties and we need less Government not more. Governments are an extension of a tribal mentality.

The OP answered his own question.

We have big government because the majority of the people want it. Since our government is made up by the people it will reflect what they want.

Its actually a positive thing to know that the government will take the form the people want.

Don't ya think?

Now it would be horrible if the majority wanted a large government and some silly politicians actually ran a small government. How would that be representative of the populaces wishes?

It wouldn't be and would be dysfunctional.

Because they're stupid sheep. I honestly can't say it any better. Not one of their brains can comprehend the idea of what this country was founded on. All they care about is trading every last human right given to them for the illusion of safety and hand outs. They love the idea of being domesticated like a #ing dog.

There is something to the opinion that many want to have cradle to the grave care...so they can live as they choose, do what they want...not have to worry about the work a day world like the majority of us...

I can see where there'd be a certain attraction to something like that... After all, many of us miss being children, and not have any real responsibilities. Many that want this cradle to the grave are children, regardless of age...and need a mommy. I see 'em all the time at work, living off the largess of the state...little realizing, or caring, that this gravytrain is in trouble. A rude wake up is in the books for many people in the not so distant future.

I loved my parents, still do in fact; but I grew up. My life is my responsibility, no one else's. That attitude, which is shared by most people, scares those in power, or a great many of them anyway... Because we're dependent upon no one but ourselves. We have no hooks in us, or a bare minimum of them.

I have no credit cards. I have a car loan that'll be paid off by the end of summer. ...amazing how much less stressful my life has become as I've removed some of those hooks...

Some want the nanny state. Most of us don't. We make our own way, which is as it should be.

Government is like the mythical "company policy."

It takes care of everything for you while relieving you of any responsibility all the while it doesnt really perform any tangible function of value.

Need an answer? Check policy.

Sorry, sir but it's not my call. It's just policy.

It's the scapegoat and the safety blanket all rolled into one and it never even has to work. Just has to exist.

Makes all the idiots feel better.

I like this post and I think you're onto something. I also think crooked politicians play on this as well.

Computer Generated Voice: Greetings, Model Citizen.

We see by your records that ten years ago your spouse accused you of spousal abuse during a very contentious divorce.

Though we the government are sorry you lost your wife, two children and home to divorce, we also see by your psychologically displayed now public records that you were accused of being of a violent nature by your divorcing spouse.

You not only will not be eligible to purchase a handgun, we will have to report your psychological records to your employer where you are working for minimum wage.

After which we will be required to raid your low rent efficiency located in a high crime area...but not your previous four bedroom home you lost in divorce to your wife and two children, both of whom the courts have not allowed you to see for the past ten years.

Thank you, Model Citizen, for submitting your background check application form for the firearm you can not own.

Of course they do. They want to be all things to all people. That's how they stay in office. The last thing that any successful politician wants is for his/her constituency to think for themselves, or make their own way...

Yeah, I'm stereotyping a bit, but it seems all too many politicians want to give us everything...yet do not realize that once were all taking the handout, who the hell is going to pay for it? Or maybe they do realize it, and don't care? Doesn't change the fact that this whole notion of cradle to grave is ultimately going to lead to national, if not global, catastrophe.

The average workaday population can not continue to pay for this growing entitlement society.

Oh... That's right... They'll tax the rich.

Well said OP. I've been thinking along these lines for a while now. It's very scarey what this country is turning into. The government and wall street are straight up stealing from the people and they don't even care. I've kind of given up hope that this country wil fix itself without something major breaking first.

Less "big" government means, bunch of vigilant and gangs running around showing who is the new boss. It will be anarchy.

Not only that, the majority will decide what minority needs(not just race but opposing views).. ex. Majority's Religion will be everyone religion or rather, other religion is put down and discouraged.

That place i do not like to live in.

I hate the term "big government", it's meaningless.

The reason we have a government supplied social safety net is because of capitalism, the private ownership of the means of production (economic private property). Because since capitalism became the dominant economic system no human being can survive without money.

Before capitalism we had common land law, anyone could settle on a plot of land and farm it as long as it was being unused. They usually had to pay rent to the land owner, but the owners could not deny it's use.

Towards the end of feudalism the commoners (none-land owners) were starting to cooperate, and make money. The land owners saw this as a threat to their own power and control, so they had the 'inclosure' laws enacted. The laws gave the land owners the right to inclose (enclose) "their" land with fencing, denying it's use to the commoners.

Land was no longer free to use, which forced the commoners into jobs provided by the land owners in their mills and factories.

This made the commoners reliant on private owners providing jobs, the reliance on money, and the reliance on government to provide a social safety net. The social safety net btw came not from socialism, as most seem to think, but from the capitalist class, because they saw it as a way to appease the workers and keep them from revolting against awful working conditions, and low wages.

Modern liberalism came from the capitalist class. Liberalism destroyed the ideas of socialism. Instead of being liberated and owning your own work, we got "big government". So all you conservatives, if you really want to maintain capitalism you better provide a social safety net, because no one expects the Spanish revolution.

I think you're all missing the point. When was the last time WE decided whether or not a new agency was created? Have we ever voted on a government budget? A war? Anything? Nope. It's easy and a major political ploy to attempt to lay all this on the feet of these lazy, good-for-nothing, welfare leeches. But the fact is, Government is the one who loves big government. Follow the money. Government is always looking for new ways to spend public funds. Laws, regulations and legislation is churned out at breakneck speed. Who benefits? Just follow the money. Congressmen get rich while working for government despite salaries that simply do not align with their increases in wealth. Government employees take high-paying private sector jobs after leaving government. Fat, juicy government contracts end up with companies that officials are/were associated with. Hundreds of billions of dollars just disappear. The list is endless.

The real culprit in my opinion and from my direct, personal experience with government agencies is the government itself. These 'entitlement leeches' that are so frequently vilified is just a cheap tactic to divert attention from the real problem.

The simple fact is that some people need to be governed. Namely the stupid people among us need to be governed.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of stupid people in the world...and thus we need a lot of governing.

If I have to pick between less government so I can do a few more things I would like to do vs more government so stupid people don't tear us all down....I'll pick more government in a heartbeat.

Ironically, those that hate government the most are usually the ones that need to be governed the most.

That is what happens when we, as in you, me, and several million others; decided that we didn't need to be involved in the process of governing.

We elect 'em. We can also fire 'em. But in between those two things we need to watch 'em... Not transparent enough to do that? We remove 'em, and tell 'em why...we also let the one's we put in there to replace 'em, that they too can be removed. Eventually, they'll get the message.

When was the last time any of you of you attended a city council meeting? Or a planning commission meeting? School board? Neighborhood council? Anything?

If my most recent experience is any indicator...not very damned many of us. A city council meeting was held, and you want to know how many showed up? Four. Four people out of a city population of around twenty eight thousand. Four.

...and we wonder why politicians, and their masters, think they can get away with whatever... When, in the past half century, or longer, have we given them reason to think otherwise? When?

That's the thing, Humans cannot live in solitude, they need a leader or an entity. Without it, it will be anarchy.

I need government to keep stupid people around me from going crazy, killing me and taking whatever they feel like.

Its kinda like how some religious people think that without bible they is no moral, same illusion here, without the "big bad" government, what we will have is atrocities and vigilantes.
