With all the talk of Iran and Syria we have allowed China and Russia to build an alliance that is preparing to go head to head with the US. The Russians and Chinese are waiting for an excuse to test us. For one the Russians and Chinese will not let Syria fall because there is a Russian Naval base in Syria. If we enter Syria, expect Russia to get involved. If we defend any of the Paciif Islands, expect China to bring out the big guns. They are not buying submarines and building missles for land to ship capabiliity to protect themselves. These steps are specific actions to take out our navy in a conflict. China knows that if they wipe out our Pacific Fleet we are in deep trouble.

"A recent official visit to Moscow brought back some new souvenirs for the Chinese military.
How about a reported 24 Sukhoi SU-35 fighter jets, and four submarines from Russia."

Russia and China have always been rivals/enemies of the US. Yeah, everybody makes nice for the news cameras but there has always been obvious tension in their body language when the leaders of Russia or China have met with US leaders- which really tells the true tale. Why the government of the US even tries to pretend that they are buddies with the leaders of Russia and China is beyond me as it is obviously feigned.

People still believe this kinda stuff? In a perfect world we'd get back to having top notch intel orgs and for the most part NOT interfere with the rest of the planet. One small group draws us ALL into this never ending nightmare for their gain. Keep acting oblivious and it will continue to go on forever.

Imagine a world where globalism isn't demanded, these scenarios would soon slide into the abyss of old propagandas.

I'm 100% certain it's an act on Russia's part. No question. Putin isn't rebuilding the conventional military with all speed he can manage it ...as well as totally overhauling and replacing all 3 legs of their Nuclear Triad for..what? Bragging rights? There is only one other nation on Earth ALL that as a package is intended for or even GOOD for. Us.

China? I think China sees advantage if war has to happen at some point anyway and they'll play it like masters. It's their way and has been since well before Jesus Christ was a toddler. I don't see China WANTING war ...but I don't see them particularly adverse to it, if someone else starts the whole thing.

Obama? Well..... I imagine a kid playing paddy cake in a room full of pissed off prize boxers. Err... I don't think it ends well if some reality isn't introduced into Washington thinking. We were a true Superpower that COULD fight both Oceans at once ....a long time ago. That 2 war capability was scrapped for this leaner, meaner (FAR FAR FAR MORE EXPENSIVE) crap we have now. Where we go to a place like Iraq and still leave in disgrace.

Don't this sound too familiar? Eurasia and East Asia are at war with Oceania.

We proved that in the Iraq war...whoops.

Edit: you are confusing Canadian US relations with Israel US relations.
You say jump, we look the other way, Israel says jump, you do. That's why I'm sooo surprised the US hasn't invaded Iran yet!

I'm in agreement with you in that Russia is more than likely posturing and China probably doesn't seek war but if they were to team up in the near future and a conflict was initiated we would be in for big trouble- and the odds for something like that happening are a lot better than they were before as they view our current leadership as weaklings and our forces are spread thin at this time. I don't think they would out and out start a war, but I believe given the right conditions they might give Obama just enough rope to hang himself.

I think it is possible that they would use an incident involving either Iran or N.Korea as an excuse and I don't think Obama is experienced enough to know when he has been had. We have the greatest military in the world but it does us no good when they are spread out chasing ghosts all over the desert. We are at a vulnerable place right now and I'm not sure our leadership even realizes it.

I'm not trying to fear monger here, but anyone who thinks Russia or China are our friends are deluding themselves.

I like China and Russia and as an American I don't want a war with them, I love those people.

I could give a rat's a** about middle east affairs. There is no justification to start another war unless those people make a direct threat to the homeland.

Considering how Brazil and India have joined up with Russia and China at the IMF table there is probably a few more nations you should put on that list. But as for the real #1 enemy I would put America in first place, if it does fall it only has its self to blame.

Steven Harper will also jump if Israel says so. I recall him stating Canada will help defend Israel at ALL cost.

I'm sorry, but I truly believe obozo wants to see the us destroyed. Remember the off-mic comment to Medndeve(sp?) that after the election he'll have more sway (that isn't the right word, I can't remeber right now the exact word he used).

Russia and China will never trust eachother completely, but they can cause a heck of a lot of chaos together. The us has to be destroyed for the new world communist order.

The world-wide monetary collapse is almost upon us - why not a 2 front war - in the pacific and ME.

I agree that America's #1 enemy is itself.

Yes, when 80% of NYC Highschoolers need to be retaught the basics it translates to public education has failed.

When 52% of America's electricity is generated from coal and leftists have an overt agenda to shut them down without offering viable alternatives, public planning has failed.

When 50 million Americans are on food stamps, roughly 1 out of 6 Americans, can't even have a wage to support even the basics of food our labor and agriculture system has failed.

When our financial system is on an $80 billion a month life support and personal debt spirals out of control, our financial planning has failed.

When the #1 cause of bankruptcy is medical costs, and the collusion and price fixing is sanctioned by the government, and millions still cannot get the access to the healthcare they need our health care system has failed.

When the US is #1 in putting people in prison for crimes that mostly involve self-harm our legal system has failed.

When phrases like "American exceptionalism" have been subverted as wrong our patriotism has failed.

When the totality of wars for the past 50 years has been summarized as "our boys dying on foreign shores/fighting other peoples wars" our foreign policy has failed.

When "no religion" (the enjointment of a person into a community faith based group -ANY GROUP) is now the preference for 20% of Americans and rising our spirituality has failed.

What the Hell can China and Russia do to us that we haven't done to ourselves? The US has become a losing bargain and our politicians do nothing but squabble of "single issue" problems like abortion, marriage, and guns while doing nothing or making worse the true problems of America.

To be honest, I wish they would just get out of the way. They can go back to their golf games, yachting club lunches, and $300K salaries -but just stop blocking us. Quit with the over regulation and needless environmentalism. Quit with the crocodile tears over every bull# squabble in some other part of the world.

Americans can fix our own problems. Government fixing problems from on high belongs in Europe. Americans are the rejects of the old world and we climbed our way to the top. Now we've gotten soft and are afraid of a little sweat and blood, and we cry about it when the BRICs are willing to put in the work.

# that noise. If we got fatass Uncle Sam out of the way the US would be ontrack towards prosperity within a year. But no, people cower for him to save us as individuals, and vote accordingly.

China and Russia don't have to do jack except watch us die.

I'll bet that many more think the same, not just those two...

We can't compare nations to school children but even if those two are not completely social examples the US has been the bully on the playground, it does not have any friends that do not act strictly because of having aligned interests on the other hand all the kids secretly and in the back hold a grudge and fear of the bully's behavior...

With a world wide monetary collapse it will be a 9 Billion front war as social trust is broken. How could you trust your employer to pay you, how could you local shop trust your to pay them? All trade will break down with trust needing to be reestablished from the ground up again.

I would like to see a source for STEPHEN Harper saying that. He is a coward and has no clue how to run a country, as evidence by his latest run. When Canadians speak though, he listens. He may jump when the US tells him too (hero worship for Obama) but he knows who has the power to knock him out of office.

In December he told bibi that he doesn't support the plan to build more settlements.

LOL, I just listened/read the transcript of his unwavering support of Israel. He is using antisemitism as the basis for his support.

He made these remarks at the start of a two-day conference on anti-Semitism that is being held on Parliament Hill during Holocaust Education Week. Hmmm...I wonder if that was politically motivated or not? Since when does being Jewish have anything to do with the policies of the Israeli government and their terrorism? He is a nut job.

Edit: Canada also said that they would help out if the invasion of Iraq was allowed by the UN. I would be more interested in what a politician does, than what he says (shouldn't we all be doing that now?).

I wonder if there were a way to know (and there isn't of course), what are the general age groups of those who see Russia as nothing but a friend and anyone who thinks otherwise as silly or ignorant. (meant well or not)

vs.

Those who see Russia as the descendant of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, and Vladimir Putin as a man who served in their Intelligence service (KGB) from the 70's onward? People think the CIA was bad? lol... Who do folks think the CIA learned it while practicing against?

I saw this in protest people too, in person and it's what has always made me curious since first noticing it that way. There is a generational gap in those two world views that are night and day often enough to be remarkable.

For the sake of the younger generation who never knew or saw the USSR or can understand in a meaningful way what Reagan meant by Evil Empire, I hope it never changes either. I'd be just as happy to have a few generations worth of people behind me figuring I'm just cynical. I sure hope we don't return to those days on either side of the Atlantic, let alone what so very nearly happened between the true world powers more than once.

Just my two carrots thrown into the mixer.
