Morrissey, the ex lead singer of the group 80s group The Smiths, has claimed that if more men were gay, there would be no wars. He further claims that women don't go to war to kill other women.

The former Smiths front man argued that homosexual men would never kill other men, and labelled war, armies and nuclear weapons 'heterosexual hobbies'.

The 53-year-old said heterosexual men 'love' killing other men and added that women do not go to war to kill other women.

The indie icon, who also described war as the 'most negative aspect of male heterosexuality', made his claims in an interview with U.S. online magazine Rookie.

Daily Mail

He makes an interesting point. I'm not sure though that the world would necessarily be a more peaceful place if all men were gay. Wasn't Alexander the Great a homosexual, as were the Theban Sacred Band which consisted entirely of male homosexual pairs?

Sacred Band of Thebes
Alexander the Great

I will however concede that it is correct to state that women don't go to war to kill other women. The do at times send men to kill other people for them though.

Catherine the Great
Elizabeth I of England
Empress dowager
Queen Victoria

Are homosexuals and women more peaceful than heterosexual men?

I'm not sure I am convinced that they are.

After having lived in Key West as a dive master for a few years I can safely tell you that Gay people are not necessarily passive. I have seen some cat fights that would blow ones mind. Vicious, nasty and unreasonable on a good day. Drama queens to the tenth degree.

He says that assuming and implying that Gay men don't fight? lol... they are humans too lol, which means hate, envy, greed are all tagged to them too.

Men actually most likely to forget grudges and get over things faster. Women don't kill each other? lol the world is actually in one piece is because women are not running it.

Imagine, when a first lady sees another first lady with the same dress as hers.Nukes would be launching from every corner of the earth.

Let the flame war begin. Commence battle in 3 2 1....

Plus I know quite a few gay guys who are, well, not nice people. War mongerers exist in all facets of humanity; gay straight or otherwise.

Oh lets bash the male breeders and blame them for everything.

Oh please the most volatile relationships I've ever seen were between gay men. Flushing each others jewelry down the toilet, throwing clothes out of the car on the interstate, drama, drama, drama queens. I'd like to say it was isolated incidents but no, it wasn't.

I am a woman combat Veteran - so these theories are complete silliness.
Simplification of a difficult quandary. Wars are about economics and disputes over resources and they always have been - since those cave days - we solve this by fighting over things.
Gender - and sexual orientation really don't have much impact - on resources.

Now if the title of the thread was "There would be less War if there was no Religion" - they would be on to something.

From who?

I just felt it was an interesting topic. I am genuinely open minded. A number of homosexuals I have met have been gentler people. Others come across just the same as heterosexuals.

I don't buy into women being less war like as leaders.

The assumption is that wars are the result of a conflict. That's pattently untrue. Wars are the means to force business models on the unwilling. War is greed driven. The people that fight those wars are simply unwitting employees of the banksters that are attemting to force their financial will on an uncooperative country.

I would say homosexual men probably have just the same propensity for violence as heterosexual men. I do actually think women in general are more peaceful than men. Just my opinion

From who?

The countless members who have started the " feminization of men" threads. They will try and eat this up for breakfast.

Having seen some fights outside gay bars I can tell you they love a fight as much as a straight man, and I wouldn't argue with some of the trans community either as a lot of those were in the army and not just as grunts but commando's, para's etc

starts thinking of monty pythons camp parade

How is suggesting gay people are more peace minded any better or different than saying gay people are sexual deviants, child molesters or social outcasts?

It's all generalizing and stereotyping and it's all probably got some truth by sheer odds and happenstance of numbers among a population more than any cause or effect.

As someone noted with Key West and I've seen myself...Gay people are NOT automatically eviscerated or cowardly. Far from it. Hollywood loves the "ultra-feminine' stereotype of a wimpy man. That IS NOT what I have met and known in my life for actual, real world people. (with some exception in Los Angeles....people actually DO live to stereotypes there..but then, they mean to)

OH big time. I had a couple from the trans community try and get me in drag an entire night at a party and they got really hostile towards the end after I kept refusing. lol

Here,

Morrissey said it himself; just expand the bitchiness to an international scale...

Morrissey should have breakfast and make sure he is on his coffee before he speaks with the press first thing in the morning.

There would definitely be wars.

Guess you never been to a homosexual bar?

They are worse then men, and they fight no holds barred style.

*I am not homosexual, but I did drag my x-husband to a bar. And I know first hand how those women fight.

Trust me,.

Bet I could find a few youtube fights.

Wow, just wow. WOW~ This is wrong on several levels. I'ma go back to the waiting game. I don't know if it's me but the Threads on ATS have really lost a lot of luster and really are lacking any form of sustenance. What the heck is going on with these narrow perceptions, people wake up.

If more men were gay there would be no wars

I'm not sure if I'm reading that right ... but I'm thinking that statement is insulting to the thousands upon thousands of men and women who are/were homosexual and who serve/served in the armed forces through the centuries here. They served side by side with 'straight' folks ... and they got all HOORAAAAAH on the enemy with everyone else ...

Or am I reading the intent of that statement wrong?
