Chicago Police Chief: Second Amendment Is A Danger To Public Safety

Chicago’s Chief of Police, who previously blamed ”government-sponsored racism” and Sarah Palin for Chicago’s gun violence, declared that the law-ful exercise of the Second Amendment was a threat to public safety. From the Illinois State Rifle Association:

Oh geez Chicagos biggest threat to public safety is its very own government.

Chicago’s embattled police superintendent dug himself deeper into a pit of controversy today by claiming that lawful firearm owners are agents of political corruption.

Awe corruption is the Chicago way.

Despite recent court decisions to the contrary, McCarthy opined that the 2ndAmendment limits citizens to owning smooth-bore muskets. McCarthy went on to say that he believes that the 2nd Amendment supports mandatory liability insurance for firearm owners and the mandatory application of GPS tracking devices to civilian owned firearms

The second Amendment limits the people to smooth bore muskets, and supports mandatory insurance for gun owners, and gps trackers on civilian owned firearms!!!!

McCarthy went on to express his belief that judges and legislators should rely on public opinion polls when interpreting our Constitution.

Yes legislators should use public opinions to write laws pay no never mind to that GD piece of paper.

This is the second funniest thing I've heard today! Apparently, none of these folks have ever seen what a smooth-bore musket can do in the hands of someone who knows how to use it, or the absolutley HIDEOUS wounds that they produce! And using 'public opinion' to interperet the Constitution, we do that now, It's called the Supreme Court! The House! The Senate! The US Attornies General! the Office of the President of the United States! Seriously tho, I cringe every time they mention a gun shooting in the media because I know TPTB will jump on the incident and hammer down our throats how we need to do this or that.

Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in this country but it is still high in gun crimes....
Not to mention high with gangs/criminal activity, which in turn they don't give a damn about gun laws, or any laws for that matter.

The issue needs to be what are they going to do about CRIME in general!!
Evidently they aren't scoring very well in that department.....
So I guess they figure that they'll attack law abiding citizens and their rights to own guns obtained the legal way, unlike criminals who buy them off the street because they can.

Sacrificing freedom for safety will have you losing both in the end. I’m not from the US and I don’t own any guns where I live, but it clearly states “shall not be infringed”. Therefore, it should not be tampered with. Doesn’t Chicago have some of the toughest gun laws in the country yet the highest gun crime/murder rate of all the cities? What would happen if their laws were implemented across the nation? They patently have not worked for Chicago, why/how would they work anywhere else?

If guns killed people of their own accord, then sure ban them. However they do not. They are a tool; like a knife, baseball bat, pinch bar and an axe. None can do any damage on their own. They need a human to use them to inflict the damage. For whatever reason, pro gun control people are blind to this. Guns and other weapons do not kill people. People kill people. Though, accidents can and do happen with each of these, particularly around children, and this is where people need to take responsibility for themselves, their children and their belongings. Not many people tend to have any sense of responsibility these days. It’s not a difficult concept.

I think this chief is a danger to public safety. I think pro gun control people are a danger to public safety.

I boggles me how moronic people get into these positions of power and responsibility. We can learn a lot from the city of Chicago. After all the gun legislation on the books in Chicago along with the crime statistics, and this moron has the audacity to piss on American's legs and tell them it's raining?!?!?!!!

I'm sorry but Rahm Emanuel fits right in, in Chicago.

People need to start running these crooks and thugs out of town. Plenty need to be relieved of their duty.

I have no doubt what so ever that a certain group had there way there would be no 2nd amendment all anyone has to do is look at that past legislation-1934,1968,1986,1994,2013 to "gun free zones".

Quite a large group of people think guns should only be in the hands of the police and military everyone else is just too "dangerous".

The hoods that murder all the people and children in Chicago, don't fill out any paper work to legally obtain a firearm.

I have the unfortunate pleasure of living in Chicago. I will be moving and in fact am already making plans to do so. It will greatly complicate my personal life but I can not continue on in what has become one of the three worst states in America to live in.

The politicians here could be monkeys and if they were I honestly think they would have more common sense and practice better legislation.

When the Chicago gun ban was found unconstitutional December 11, 2012, they were given 180 days to come up with CCW Laws.

This same police chief said he and his officers will shoot to kill anyone with a gun, even legal carriers. I think that tells you all you need to know about him.

They have to be running out of time on coming up with these CCW Laws, I am too lazy to get out a calendar and count 180 business days, but I think what you are seeing is the equivalent of road rage to their laws being overturned. Assuredly, this is tied to his 2nd ammendment rant, I can promise that. He is mad, and making sure everyone knows about it.

I can do nothing but laugh at him, because he can rant all he wants. He lost, the people and the 2nd ammendment won. Now, if he shoots on sight anyone legal carrying like he said he would, he won't be cheif for long, it's in the news, and I believe on video, that he said this. His ship is sunk, so to speak.

Its like that new navy recruiting commercial on TV. The soldiers repeat that their duty to uphold the and defend the constitution of the united states. And they say after that, "and to follow the orders of my superiors at all costs." Heh! You can't get any clearer than that.

As a southern Illinois resident I feel like I am being robbed from Chicago every day.
