Alxandro has a point. Our wonderful and trustworthy government has been telling us that Al Qaeda is on the run and is disorganized etc etc. Obviously Al Qaeda is still around. They've been threatening the USA for decades and decades. It's their dream. If they have the ability ... we don't know. But they sure want to. No question about that.

Guess we'll find out if they have the capability or not ....

The way the government and media talk about Al-Qa’ida at times can be very misleading.

You are right to say that they claim Al-Qa’ida is on the run and belief it or not they are correct to say so. When they say “We have Al-Qa’ida on the run” what they should actually say is we have “Core Al-Qa’’ida” on the run, that is the group lead by Bin Laden and Zawahiri. They use the term as a umbrella term yet don’t differentiate the different Al-Qa’ida groups. They days of core Al-Qa’ida attacks are long gone, now however we have the rise of the franchise groups and those inspired by the ideal of Al-Qa’ia and that is the new threat. In all probability it was Al-Qa’ida in the Islamic Maghreb who made this threat as opposed to “Core Al-Qa’ida”.

Its all to do with how the government and media talk about Al-Qa’ida they incorrectly use the term as a catch all to explain the very complex and real threat of Islamic terrorism. It’s much easier just to say “Al-Qa’ida” than it is to explain some new threat so the government just go with it as well as that it is also a easier sale to the public.

My guess ... there is no credible planned attack. Al Qaeda made the announcement with the hope of stirring up their supporters and getting them riled up so they will attack. Like what a coach does before a big game .. give the 'big energy' type speech in the locker room in the hopes that your players will get all psyched up to do the job.

And I agree with you, but don't forget that 100's of 1000's of civilians have died at the hands of our governments because of those attacks also. Don't they count or something? Or is it because they are Muslim its ok?
