Hi Folks,

According to Reuters French and Malian troops retook control of Timbuktu, a UNESCO World Heritage site, on Monday after Islamist rebel occupiers fled the ancient Sahara trading town and torched several buildings, including a library holding priceless manuscripts :

www.reuters.com...

Only 18 days after the French forces arrived to help the Malian army, troops entered Timbuctu helped by over 250 parachutists from the French foreign legion and apparantly not 1 single shot was fired in the town as the terrorists fled to the mountains liberating the Malians from over 9 months of Sharia law.

Now the serious long drawn out part comes as they get down to some serious ferreting out in the mountains.

BFM news in France also declared that about 200 British troops will also be sent to Mali.

I guess this is going to be a long drawn out one!

Kindest respects

Rodinus

More info can be found here :

en.starafrica.com...

So, for the moment the people of Mali are free to talk to people of the opposite sex without fear of being beaten or stoned, free to grow their beard to whatever length they want without fear of being fined or sentenced to death, free to smoke and drink without being fined, free to walk in the streets without having to look over their shoulder etc etc...

Kindest respects

Mali: Britain prepared to send 'sizeable amount' of troops to support French

Britain is prepared to take the risk of sending a "sizeable amount" of troops to Mali and neighbouring West African countries as David Cameron offers strong support to France in its operation to drive Islamist militants from its former colony.

As news emerged that insurgents retreating from Timbuktu had set fire to a library containing thousands of priceless historic manuscripts, Downing Street said the prime minister told François Hollande on Sunday night Britain was "keen" to provide further military assistance to France.

lying scumbag politicians! they said they wouldn't send troops....

I'm sick of people sticking their noses into others business. we have no right or purpose for being there
