I started to get into the new age ideas about 18 months ago, and like most people read literature and listened to the various youtube videos which explain ideas, beliefs and conceptualisations of the gurus who inhabit the intellectualism of the new age spirit void. I was for many months fascinated by what i was listening to, and as the months turned into about a year i began to assimilate and examine closely what i heard; to establish a point of reference for the consciousess mind for it to be able to accept widsom and intelligence from the etheral source of antiquous light.

Upon the epsiode of pondering the widsoms of the new age i began to see many cracks and inconsistences in the teachings of the esoteric preachers, guides, the lightworkers and the gurus. My reaction was to suspect foul play of being duped by sweet talking conmen out to profit from the goodwill of people genuinely seeking enlightment. This suspicion gradually subsided and i went through a second phase thinking possibly the new age is a covert front for Satanists. Many of the new age teachings center on the path to enlightement requiring accepting there is no dark or light only the path, and openly identify some of there icons as eygptian deities who definitely resemble some kind of dark Aztec paganistic creatures.

Now i have finally come to realise i was mainly off track about the above. What i have realised is most new age gurus, lightworkers, guides dont really know what they are talking about. What they know is alot of phrases and jargon which kinda sounds mystical, clever, intelligent and deep but in reality its fictional nonscence they are making up. Whats really ironic is i have come to realise they have fooled themselves with this nonscence and really do believe in it. Yes they belioeve their own BS. Unfortunately for them it being nonscence means the only true point of reference they can ever really ascend to is that where contradiction, confusion and maddness reside as the dominion of their mental faculties.

I only have to point to teh 2012 non- event to say i rest my case on this one....Guilty as charged!

Add Astrologers and Fortunetellers etc to the list and its quite a racket they have going. But it all adds to the color and texture of life doesn't it and they don't go around shooting anyone, harmless really and if you got conned in for a while it obviously taught you a valuable lesson going by your thread: lol

Yes Astrologers and Fortunetellers do have a place in life just like casinos and guns. If you want some fun in life you have to dance with the devils.

It is a serious and valid question.
What were you looking for when you embarked on your journey into what you call 'the new age movement'? What was your intention? You must have expected something from it to be so disappointed.

The New Age Movement is just a recycle bin for ideas. Of course it is confused!

Biofeedback
Centering prayer
Eco-communalism
Higher consciousness
Mantas
Holotropic breathing
Hypnosis
Paradigm shift
Rebirth
Spiritual evolution
Transcendental meditation
Transpersonal psychology

...the list goes on and on.

It has never known from the beginning what it wishes to achieve and certainly not how it wishes to achieve it. There is no bible. No figurehead. Just too much white noise.

Pick and choose the parts you like and form your own philosophy around them.

Please can you state what it is that you and everyone is looking for?
I am still not clear on what it was you were hoping to get from 'the new age movement'.

i would like to see a windows operating system desk top designed for the new age movement with the start menu filled with these menu items you listed as selections...i shudder to think of how disfunctional the operating system would be.

Try turning your gaze around the other way.

Im reminded of this friend of mine who has wanted to be rich for many years now. She has tried visualizing, crystal-gazing, ritual magick, shamanism, meditation and a whole host of other things so that she could "get rich". After all these years she still struggles to pay her rent but somehow pretends that she is richer than she used to be. A method she has not tried yet is work. She represents to me what is wrong about large parts of the "new age movement"; the tendency to delude themselves into airy beliefs that do not support them in day-to-day life.

If you want to find the source of all knowledge you must stop looking out and look in.
Know thyself.

OMG that is so funny but true what you wrote. People use the new age for excuses as why they do not or should have to work for a living.

i would not say my time (1 1/2 years in NewAge) was unpleasant or unrewarding, i didn't feel like a dork...
i rather enjoyed going to the Chuch of Tsadi, dating a Priestess, doing the Sedona stuff, meditating outdoors in those power-wheels and all that electic, weird stuff i can look back on and smile....

we never acted harmful towards others, injured no-one, did not drink the kool-ade or hemlock....

i actually kinda knew what my back-home (in SC) friends found in being caught-up in a late 1960s time-warp some 35 years after we knew each other up in DC back in '68-69 (crazy Jane & John. still caught up in the jargon and rituals of the street hippy daze...

New Age is just a small slice of the pie
