I thought that Sid Vicious was the guy who wanted Spike Siegel dead in Cowboy Bebop?

(It's a popular anime show on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim...)

Sid actualy could play the bass (it's not that hard), although not very well.
When Glen matlock was ousted, Rotten insisted on having Sid join because they were buddies. Years later they learned to regret that move.
Sid learned bass by playing along with a Ramones record.
He didn't play on any Sex Pitols record though. All the bass on "Bollox" was done by Steve Jones except "Anarchy" which was recorded by Glen before he left.
They even asked Glen to come back during the recording of "Bollox" because Sid wasn't up to the job. For some reason he refused...
If you listen to later live recording from the US tour, all you can hear really are Steve Jones and Paul Cook (drums). Sid was more interested in the glory and attention he got onstage than actually playing anything.
But by then the rest of the band were more than a little disillusioned by the whole thing. They realised by then how they were just being used...
Sid unfortunately, unlike the others, played the role of the spitting, drug taking, self destructing "punk rocker". All the Pistols hype that was made up in the press by Malcolm McClaren (manager) mostly. Sid was a pistols fan and baught all the hype long before he joined them.
They were just a buch of poor working class kids, with big dreams at a time when "rock stars" were unaproachable. Boring stadium rock by boring middle aged musician/business men was the norm. They were as surprised by their sudden popularity as any one else.
The music scene needed a band like the Pistols, and every "pub rock" band in London became a "Punk Rock" band after hearing/seeing them. And many of their closest fans formed bands (Generation X(Billy Idol)/Siouxsie & the banshees/The Pogues/The Damned).
But it was more than the music. It was the attitude. The fuk-off to the establishment. But it was all very "tongue in cheek".
The Pistols were the first true Punk band. It was their manager that fuked it up for them. They really just wanted to be the Small Faces...
But if it wasn't for them and their manager the music world would be a whole different place today.
You might not like 'em, but ya gotta respect 'em.

I call BS on Sid Killing Nancy (Nancy Spungeon). We have to remember this was , back in the late 70's early 80's. Hardly any problem of the Gov's to mold the media to what they want people to believe.

You have to realize this group was very outspoken. It was a cover up.
