Been having a nightmare getting my kids to go to sleep lately, they go to bed at a decent hour, but find it hard tio settle. Ok they are in their early teens but it's still me that has to kick thier backsides out of bed in the morning when they are too tired for school.

However recently they love falling asleep to a bit of Enya, so i stick the full album on for them to fall asleep to.

There are tons of relaxing videos on Youtube, do you have a favourite technique or piece of music? Or maybe another way of getting the kids to sleep that doesn't involve alcohol.

I have a couple suggestions.

  • Country Music (ALL of it. the entire genre.)

  • Enigma

  • Phil Collins (any and/or all)

    Beck

Not all of Beck's wide variety of sounds would be good for sleeping, but his slower/mellow acoustic albums are.

The entire albums of 'Mutations' & 'Sea Change', are relaxing.

Thanks everyone, so many good vids there.

I daren't watch them all at the moment, i'm cooking a roast dinner for the girls and i'll probably doze off lol.

I had a great relaxation tape once, narrated by a guy with a really deep voice, one of these "Imagine yourself lying on a beach" kind of things. I think it was called "Ultimate relaxation" or something....anyway that always used to get me off to sleep.

Will have a look around for it.

Thanks again for all the replies, i'll turn my kids into sloths!!!
