Actor Danny Glover tells students 2nd Amendment was created to protect slavery

The Constitution's Second Amendment was created to bolster slavery and capture land from Native Americans, award winning actor Danny Glover told a group of students at a Texas A&M sponsored event on Thursday.

“I don’t know if you know the genesis of the right to bear arms,” he said. “The Second Amendment comes from the right to protect themselves from slave revolts, and from uprisings by Native Americans.”

“A revolt from people who were stolen from their land or revolt from people whose land was stolen from, that’s what the genesis of the second amendment is,” he contin

I wonder what Mr Glover has been smokin' lately to come up with an idea that smacks of ignorance and bigotry.

just another way of trying to change facts to fiction.

The left comes up with these fantastic tales and reinterpret the second amendment and then comes along Liberal congress to limit our rights because the second amendment was not created to throw off tyrannical Governments Foreign or Domestic but because white man wanted guns to keep slaves from revolting.

Danny Glover is revolting in ignorance and racism

Well considering the true ignorance of history these days this doesn't surprise me. The worst part is that how many people will believe him just because he is a actor. But just try to point out that slavery was not just a whie institution and watch the fireworks.

Well, Danny there could use some history classes. BADLY. Maybe he played a teacher once, but he sure didn't learn much from them. The sad part is, because he's a professional entertainer and has visibility, some think that makes him intelligent to speak on issues with nothing more given for why he'd know enough to have more than a personal opinion. You know what works best here though? Well.. there is a saying and it fits.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Isn't it shocking? Don't see that kind of stuff in school history books. My personal favorite is the Middle East and slavery. Funny thing is people don't know their role in the old slave trade, it's just that evil whitey they hear about.

He's using the 1st Amendment to lie about the 2nd.

The most cursory of research on this man tells me he's nothing but an actor (big whoopie-do) which gives him a platform to spout about his Marxist Socialist ideology.

He is the type of black actor that sees everything through the eyes of a racist. Truth and historical facts just get in the way of his hate-filled rhetoric. Take him for what he is.

Just because somebody is a decent actor, doesn't mean that they have a working brain or any knowledge of what they're talking about.

Which begs the question: Why is a black actor being trotted out to colleges, etc., to play the racism card concerning the Second Amendment?

Things that make you go, Hmmmmm......

Personally, I think he's a paid hack, and there are enough people out there who are ignorant of history and our contitutional framework who believe anything anybody famous tells them.

Tinypic isn't working for me, or I'd embed a bunch of pictures of Mr. Glover holding all sorts of firearms in his various roles which made him famous. Gotta love the hyprocrisy of Hollywood.
