Weekly Geophysical: 21 Dec 12

This is the first of the weekly geophysical reports which will be published on a Saturday for the previous 7 days to the Friday inclusive.

Because the time span is longer I am omitting the Mag 4.5 to 4.99 earthquakes and only going with Mag 5+. In particular note that statistics table. This will build as we go forward to provide useful earthquake statistics.

When I get time I will extend the remaining graphs backwards so they cover a six month period and then stretch out to form a rolling year as we go forwards.

Some wished it, others feared it and some ignored it.

Seems a darn shame we have to wait 26,000 years to hype it all up again!

If you mean Copahue it is in the list as it started erupting on 21st (very late on)

I know there are some others thinking about doing it as well.

Weekly Geophysical: 28 Dec 12

A quiet week for earthquakes, volcanoes and category force storms. On the earthquake front there is more activity in less usual places, not to say there is never activity in these places but the Antarctic Ridge for example has been popping off a few including some that USGS do not pick up.

Only the volcano chart remain to be extended to form a rolling year as we go forwards. I have started on it but it is a very time consuming task checking back on all the past records.

Expanded version of this post.

This weeks report can be found here

It has taken me the whole of the day doing little or nothing else to assemble the data and images required and I cannot spend further time doing a shortened version for ATS. Regrettably the ATS version has to be discontinued but I shall continue producing the report on my blog.
