Without the social safety net put into place when it was put there, there'd be no United States of America to "defend" against "socialism". I tried to explain that to you, but obviously you've got your own "truth".

The Founding Fathers set the basics up, but they were also involved in amending the original edition (Bill of Rights) so don't be so precious with the intent of the framers. Even they knew that it was an imperfect plan that would need updating as time went on. Hannity isn't a scholar and Beck is totally insane, so if you're getting your history education from them, you're off to a shaky start to begin with.

Well not reading all these replies because it is a simple thing. Do you seriously think that we can continue to spend 1.2 trillion dollars more than we take in? The fiscal hoax...erm....cliff....is simply addressing a part of this ridiculousness.

I think most Americans are prepared to deal with this. They know that what we are doing is absolute madness.

We are not a stupid people...we can see what is happening and we can deal with it. The Gov wants you to think that cataclysm is coming...and that is just not true. We actually had a balanced budget before and we can do it again. It is not a pipe dream. We can do this.

I understand that folks get their panties in a wad when some program that they personally love is in threat....oh...to f'ing bad.

I am happy with it...I say...run and jump off that damn cliff. I have prepared myself for the incidentals and I am pretty sure that shiz will continue to grow...oh what a thought.

There are those that are trying to tell you it is terrible....well here is a clue...check into their assetts...most of them have a reason for telling you that.

Man...I find my posts getting bigger and bigger when I try to explain the simple of simple. We are not doomed. Perhaps it is time to be smart like we used to be...there is no reason to fear as the pundits want you to. It is a trick. We are a smart and clever culture. We will be fine and we all know this deep in our hearts....stop listening to the liars....we will pull through this and we will be great again...all the other crap is to make you scared...stop and don't be.

Trust me, I want all the liberty I can possibly get, but I still believe in taking care of the needy. Another thread here I recently read says corps are posting record profits. They are able to do that because they reduce the workforce yet keep the same output. If the "job creators" aren't willing to provide for their workers then somebody has to. SS is a ponzi scheme, no doubt about it, but it's for the benefit of ALL Americans, not just the guy at the top like Madoff. And SS isn't preventing people from starting their own retirement plans. There are numerous IRA's and 401k's to invest in out there. And the government isn't paying for people's retirement, they and their fellow Americans are. If the politicians would've keep their greedy hands out of it SS wouldn't be quite so bad.


We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.


Providing for our defense is great but you left out the rest of the preamble. I might be wrong but ensuring domestic tranquility and promoting general welfare means to me taking care of the citizens, preventing them from starving on the streets, and enabling them to care for themselves after their working years are over would fit into that definition.

The fed gov is deeply in debt due to the cost of supporting the global corporate empire.

With all the money spent on defense the military does even protect our own borders.

Bring all the troops home, and let the global corporate empire start enforcing their own treaties.
