Could someone please explain to me why this missile could be a thread to the Philippines? I see it on the news every now and then but don't really understand why NORK would bother to launch a missile to the PH? I'm leaning towards the paranoid media.

For most of the post-war period the JSDF was confined to the islands of Japan and not permitted to be deployed abroad. In recent years they have been engaged in international peacekeeping operations. Recent tensions, particularly with North Korea, have reignited the debate over the status of the JSDF and its relation to Japanese society.

Okay guys, here is what N. Korea is going to do. They are going to test their new longer range ballistic missile. Yes, with out further explanation this could sound bad, how ever they are simply testing the delivery vehicle. This is like saying, the army is testing a new humvee. It's nothing but a delivery system. If that humvee is empty, so what. Same deal, the long range missile will be launched out into sea, with out a warhead. Basically this means they are shooting off a dud. It is just a rocket motor with a guidance system. Sure another just like it could be loaded with any number of payloads, but it's just a test. Many nations around the world have performed very similar tests and no one has even thought to shake a stick at it.
I suppose given the tension with N. Korea and it being a Nuclear club member, we don't want them to be able to deliver long range accurate strikes with a potential of nuclear payload, but they have just as much a right as the US, Russia, China, UK Etc etc. Disarm everyone, or quit bitching.

But you're okay with the US having nukes, being that they are the only nation to have used them?
Call me crazy but that's exactly like letting a criminal have a gun.
everyone or no one bucko.
