I always thought that the major flaw of Christianity is that they expect Jesus to return as he was before and bearing the same message.
Now, if the story of Jesus is indeed true then you must understand that his message was meant to be a set of instructions, a way from getting from point a to point b, mainly, to ensure the message continues all the way until the second coming, which by this point has been taking thousands of years. That being said, they are little more than driving instructions, directions, if you will, for one to be able to make it to the show. The show however, may differ entirely from the drive.
You make good points, but not all Christians believe as you say. I don't believe Jesus will be human, walking around on Earth, preaching the same message, and setting up his kingdom on Earth. That's not what the Bible
says. Also you wrote, "to ensure the message continues all the way until the second coming, which by this point has been taking thousands of years." Exactly, it's been so long because Faith has persisted for so long. We're coming up on times where belief is decreasing rapidly, "And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man."edit on 2-12-2012 by CudiTheKid because: (no reason given)

Jesus's instructions were pretty basic: we are all sinners, treat others as you would have them treat you, judge not, lest you be judged - and the 10 commandments.
God knows us all, better that we know ourselves. He knows none of us are perfect. He hopes we try and learn from our mistakes. And that we accept his grace and his sacrifice.edit on 2-12-2012 by Happy1 because: miss-spelling

but man made stories to educate uneducated people blindly into servitude and that has been used to enslave countless in their various forms, are not something I would put my faith in. Man made tales to control people, who willingly submit themselves to your whim if you are in a position of religious power.

my old friend had an out of body experience when his heart stopped for over 2 min...
he told me they is no need to fear death ...he was never religious before or after ...he has now passed on due to drug abuse at the age of 27
i believe we create our own reality..what ever you believe in will be waiting for you when you pass over into the spirit world...
