Been awhile since I have been on here, haven't seen this yet today found it interesting. I have read up on fusion centers ect. but this is much deeper it would seem that the CIA is recruiting the "average joe" to become internet and RL trolls? I found this thread very interesting as well. I would bet there are a couple roaming around here.....

Well, PA, that goes without saying! If there is even a grain of truth to that article - and I'd hedge bets there's more likely a whole field of truth there - then reasonably, there are trolls lurking in every metaphoric shadow just waiting to feed us lines of BS.

The strong-willed will not be moved by such tactics, but it is frustrating to know that it's not just being paranoid anymore. (No pun intended!)

Since when is a blog allowed to be posted as a Breaking News article? I see an AboveTopSecret link at the bottom of the blog, so I'm guessing the owner is a member here... Trying to get traffic?

Anyway... This conspiracy theory (CT) that government agents are trolling forums is getting out of hand, and I have a theory that it is destroying the CT communities. It is almost impossible to have a civil conversation on any CT website, about any CT, without having people attack you, and call you a government shill, and have the entire conversation derailed simply because you don't believe every theory imagined.

How ironic is it that the conspiracy they believe is real and happening, which they believe is done in order to derail topics, is actually causing the very people who believe in said theory to derail topics.

People believe what they want to believe, and people think what they want to think. No government agent posting on a forum is going to change anyone's mind. You can have all the agents in the world counter arguing about 9/11, but none of it will ever be of any value because the people who don't want to believe the official story, wont. It would be a giant waste of time for the agents... and all for what?

The blind will always be blind. The theorists will always theorize. The disbelievers will always disbelieve.

Sure they might have an agent or two watching and listening for things that threaten national security, but there isn't huge rooms full of hundreds of agents on computers replying to everything that they don't want people to believe or know... that is ridiculous.

You must not have read the article...although I do agree that this CT is a self perpetuating one even if not true. As I said its been awhile since I have been here sorry if its mis-posted. The ATS link should have been to a post related to this post's topic.

Point A) Not surprised at all. Why wouldn't they? If not "Da Gubment" at the very least special interest groups (which no doubt parallel many interests of websites such as ATS)

Point B) The above however ain't needed... Plenty of ignorant funks out there to do it for free.

People are wonderful, and everything, but they really don't behave like that. Those trolls aren't meant for folks like you that think for themselves.

The trolls are for the hordes of other people that are subject to things like 'tipping points'...

If we accept his premise that social phenomena act as epidemics, then studying when the tipping point in the epidemic occurs seems to be the most illustrative way to understand the epidemic. An interesting analogy for tipping points is chemical phase changes.

The transition from water to ice is similar to a tipping point. At thirty-two degrees Fahrenheit, water molecules slow their vibration enough that they begin to form a crystalline structure. These structures begin to meld together until a complete block of ice forms. Above thirty-two degrees, no ice exists. Below thirty-two degrees, water becomes pure ice. Thirty-two degrees is a tipping point for the formation of ice from water.

www.stanford.edu...

The model for 'tipping points' comes from the study of disease, epidemiology, and the folks at Stanford are using it to understand social networks. DARPA is another org that takes a multidisciplinary approach like that.

And it does not take an 'army' of trolls, just a modern data center and a handful of analysts.

So, getting out of hand or not, the CT community had better learn to adapt, because we are the choicest material to work with.

Based on my experiences I find the idea of there being no Govt paid trolls as silly as you think it is that they exist.

P.S.

You can have all the agents in the world counter arguing about 9/11, but none of it will ever be of any value because the people who don't want to believe the official story, wont.

I don't know if there were protrolls involved or not, but if you remember, last year or so, there were all those apologias that were popping up by people saying that they had a change of heart and had 'seen the light' regarding how wrong they were about thinking that 911 was an inside job. I am sure that that was studied as a tipping point; if it wasn't manufactured through social media.

How on earth is this in any way "Breaking News"?

Did you just read ONE web page and rush to make a new thread without making the slightest attempt to do any background reading first?
Not bother to discover this is an old story going back to March this year?

Personally, (and I know this is going to sound like disinfo) I think her diagnosis at the time those years ago as some kind of mentally ill schizophrenic isnt too far from reality.
She does a very very good job of giving that impression from her twitter feed, where she posts dozens of messages every day about how the FBI and CIA is following her EVERYWHERE.

But... you'd know that if you bothered to do research before making a new thread.

You know what gets me? I'm paying for it. You're paying for it. American tax dollars are footing the bill, so that we can be spied upon against our will, and be led from the truth by liars who work for liars.

What the H*LL kind of sense does that make???

They don't have enough manpower to intercept every text message, every phone call and everytime someone watches kiddie porn on the internet.

Not that they wouldn't try, but with 300 million citizens. Not a snowball's chance in hell. Best they could do is monitor people they suspect as being a considerable threat to the current dictatorship.

If they weren't doing this, I would be disappointed in them
What were you thinking, that the government doesn't have people monitoring every conspiracy site in the world. I bet even the Europeans monitor every conspiracy site. Hmmmm...........Is there anyone even here on ATS who isn't working for one of these government organizations
Kind of makes me wonder sometimes what is real or not. Maybe the only real non government/organization people are the ones who Have rabbits, mice, flowers, fairies, or angles as their avatar. Or is it just the opposite?

Oh well, I'm not worried, got to go check out those pizza pictures on the other thread before I go make lunch.

Oops, forgot to mention cats which includes big cats, and I suppose dogs

It doesn't make sense because it's all lies. Their lies have lies and their secrets have secrets. The people put up with it, instead of having revolutions every so many years to ensure this kind of thing doesn't happen. This is what your nation looks like when it's been corrupted to it's core, and the sad thing is most of the citizens think it's all hunky-dorey. People won't fight back until they start disposing of the undesirables in mass graves. It usually takes a government killing it's own citizens in large numbers to wake the sleepers up and by then it's too late to do anything about because they've been disarmed by the slow amending of their constitutions over time, a little here and a little there so as not to alarm the sheep. Thats what our government is doing here in the U.S., they false flag attacks with firearms so they can make amendments to the constitution to allow removing our rights to bear arms and freedom of speech, and push bills through like NDAA to allow for systematic execution of citizens who are malcontent. We're being led to the slaughter, but it's all good because we will have our welfare checks in hand and our medications as we walk through the gates of heaven.

While what you have to say has some sustenance to it - and is in part a good observation - the fact that you are jumping to conclusions and accusing the OP of trying to "drive traffic" to his website is essentially the same thing you are going on about. You are accusing the OP of making up topics to drive traffic to his website, which invalidates the point of the topic in the first place. Isn't that kind of like the pot calling the kettle black?

Also, while you may have been a lurker here for some quite some time, your avatar shows that you just registered. You should maybe, just a little, tone down the finger pointing and accusations a little bit. Just a piece of advise.

Well its all about the information. There is no need to fear CIA-sponsored trolls. If they point out something is not true and they can back it up, then its not true no matter whom says it. Same goes the other way around. If anything by doing so they help to eliminate the bull$hit. If I wanted to sabotage truthfinding in a medium where I can not do any censorship, I would just flood the medium with bull, so people have to wade through it and debunk me and my fellow agents.

What I find funny is the fact that we can prove that CIA paid internet trolls exist. It has been documented.
It is a fact. There have been people who have testified to this. There is ample evidence to support it YET????

If you even SUGGEST that they are here on ATS you get laughed at,mocked, ridiculed, and scorned.
It gets even worse of you point fingers at who they may be.
Sometimes it is quite obvious who they are.
People apparently think that our beloved ATS is somehow immune.

Denial happens all the time within all classes and organizations of people. The ones falling for denial somehow try to get others to pay for their misguidedness though. I see people saying others are getting screwed all the time only to see they just entered into something that will later get them screwed.

Human nature? Overtrustworthy? Neither of these apply. Usually these people that try to regain too quickly put themselves into this situation. They fail to learn Humility. People who have lost security from something often try to build their money up using risky or deceitful reasoning which open them up to loosing what they still have. I have seen many do this in my life. This does not necessarily have to do with money either. Prestige that is stagnant is often a driver. Using Ad Hominem tactics as a tool is often used. Not all Ad hominem is bad, but the technique is used more often to deceive than to protect.

The facility has the technological ability to record and analyze every communication in the world. From emails to phone calls to text messages to chats; nothing is private anymore.

BS!
A few thousand people cannot assimilate every communication in the world.
That's like photographing every snow flake in a snow storm.
Fear mongering.

Really? Then what is the Utah facility for then?

I am sorry, I apologize in advance.

I fully expect to be audited for this post and I don't really care.

If you don't think that the U.S. Government is not engaging with its citizens in the manner suggested by the OP?

You are deluded.

And underinformed.

And live in a cave.

As far as this thread is concerned?

You can all fend for yourselves and pray that another thread like this comes along to help you all out of the 1500 foot well that you insist on living in.

In the meantime, go read Hefficide's last 3 or 4 threads.

As Frankie McDonald would say: "Best o' luck to ya'".

Whatever.

Yeah, everyone is 'fear-mogering', but you know better. Save us samkent, you are our only hope.

The Utah Data Center will gather data from intercepted satellite communications and underwater ocean cables. Analysts will analyze, decipher, and store the information for the purpose of spotting potential national security threats. The facility will be heavily fortified with backup generators and powerful equipment to keep the vast computer network cool.

The Utah Data Center, formally known as the Community Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative Data Center, is a data storage facility being built for the United States National Security Agency intelligence bureau that is designed to be a primary storage resource capable of storing data on the scale of yottabytes.

It is alleged to capture "all forms of communication, including the complete contents of private emails, cell phone calls, and Internet searches, as well as all sorts of personal data trails—parking receipts, travel itineraries, bookstore purchases, and other digital 'pocket litter'," though its precise purpose is secret.

What would be even more surprising is if they didn't troll, propagandize and attempt influence and misdirection on internet forums.

There are lots on this website using such tacticts...but they're fairly sloppy, and quite easy to spot...if you're looking for them.

The data processing center in Utah is for eBay. Not for the CIA.

The CIA doesn't need paid trolls, they have autonomous personas that can interact in all forms of social media and discussions, that are far better at it than any human could ever be.
