Australia supplies a lot of meat to the US. And a significant amount to the McDonalds corp I think. Particularly around the mad cow scare event.

95% of the world don't hate americans. They don't hate america. Deal with it. People don't walk around thinking about America and how much they hate America everyday, hell most of us don't give a crap about america because we are too concerned with our own lives. You don't really give much thought about the rest of the world everyday because you too are concerned with your own lives.

98% of the time i am not giving a single thought about america. The only time I usually ever think about America is when i turn on the news or when i am on this very forum.

A lot of people hate American foreign policy and the American govt. What's wrong with that?

America needs the world to keep buying their goods. We need America to keep coming up with new ideas and to propel us forward.

Let's just stop this "The World Hates US" BS and this nationalist BS and let's just think ONE WORLD ONE PEOPLE because that's how it really is and not this nationalist rubbish we've been led to believe all our lives.

US should never withdraw from any of those places because they are the guardians of democracy.
Europe, South Korea, Russia, Balkans, and where else not, all this places now have democracy and freedom thanks to US help. All those children in those countries now have the opportunity to do whatever they like in life.
Just like Iraq, it could stand on its feet and step on the road to become a great free country in 5-10 years.

Do you really want entire world to become a third world craphole without US? Many dictators would arise, and many wars would be fought if there wasn't for fear of US interventions. Europe would be hardly willing to help with anything and world would soon experience another world war.

I most certainly will not. I do not see the Israeli's blowing their teenagers up just for the sake of killing Jews. The Palestinians had their chance more than once, they lied in the OSLO accords. See you side see's it as Jewish agression, I do not. If the Jewish people wanted to be agressive, there would be no Palestinians in Judea and you know it. The PLO has been asked many times to stop the terror, and yet they keep it up. Why? If you feel the PLO's position is right, then well over hlaf of America must be wrong also. Yes, let's pull out of the Mid-East, and everywhere else where we (U.S.) is seen as an invader. I would like us to stop cuddling up to the Israeli gov't and treat it more like the spoiled brat it is. If another nation actually WANTS our help, then let's go to it. The problem is I have not seen too many instances where our help was asked for, and then we hadn't pulled it off properly. The current war in Iraq is a tactical and strategic F-job. We run around the world pointing fingers and trying to "fix" things and more messes start. All the while our country and it's people are spiralling around the edge of the toilet bowl. That is unless yer rich. And then everything's alright. Right?

Total isolationism may be possible for the United States i think. There would be growing pains. The world is much different than 75 years ago where compared to today we were much more isolationist. Now we have this global economy.

The US would suffer through a depresion for a few years and many companies would go under. After a while we'ed pull out of it because we would no longer be handing money out by the billions to other countries. The money would stay here. We would have all our military here to guard our borders and that would stop most or all illegal immigration keeping more money in our country while stopping Mexicos' major source of income.

We have plenty of land to grow our own food. Plenty of cattle and other livestock. We've got enough coal and natural gas to last at least another hundred years. We could pull ourselves out of our dependency on OPEC if we started using other forms of energy.

On the plus side it would stop other countries from saying we should mind our own business. It would stop terrorism for the most part because we wouldn't be bothering anyone. Everything would be made in America and all the cheap quality crap on the market like those tools from China that Wall Mart sells that break when you use them once would be a thing of the past.

Of course if we were asked for help due to a major earthquake in another country or something like that, we would respond with a big screw you!

If South Korea or Israel or maybe Japan were blown away or any other place that wasn't a part of the US for that matter, oh well! That wouldn't be our problem.

I agree with all except #6. We shouldn't have troops in other countries anyway, IMO. If hell breaks loose, I really don't care. Maybe they should learn to live together. If they can't, maybe they should kill each other. When they come here, go ahead and defend the US. Otherwise, we have no business there. That's what got us attacked on our own soil. When will we learn? We can still have allies and trade with other countries without having military presence all over the world.

Nope.

I never said I agree with it. I said IMO what would have to be done to achieve it. You can't remain an Isolationist country and worry about what allies might think. You can't pour out your heart, soul, and money to help other countries through rough times. That's not your problem anymore.

Yes we can but change is slow on a global scale. Through NATO our troops are all over the world to combat the Warsaw Pact nations. Also Clinton did a very good job of spreading the American military around the world with all of those low risk peace keeping operations. The American presence in many foreign countries has been there for over 50 years.
