There are reports coming from within Thailand's government that Burma's Prime Minister, Khin Nyunt, has been placed under house arrest, the loser in a power struggle with the military's senior General Than Shwe.
Unconfirmed reports from Burma say that Prime Minister Khin Nyunt may have been removed from office. According to a Thai government spokesman, Khin Nyunt has been accused of corruption and placed under house arrest.

There has so far been no official word from inside Burma.

Diplomats have spoken of a growing power struggle between Khin Nyunt, number three in the military junta, and senior General Than Shwe.

Thailand has already seen violence in the form of bombings in August and January of this year. It now appears that its Burmese (Myanmar) neighbor may be facing its own turbulent times ahead.
