For an entire year, every four years, the government gets it pon farr and Americans are subjected to the election ritual to the death.

It is such a spectacle that the Japanese developed a word for it and has now become jersey shore for them.

Americans are inundated with phone calls and ads, and leaflets and signs and more signs and bumper stickers and more ads and more 6pm phone calls and news news news; till you don't care who wins, as long as someone wins so this crap can end. Even the Olympics is only a few weeks.

Obama has 834 million dollars in campaign contributions, and Romeny has 771.

WTF

good lord that would save a lot of schools.

The time has come, that campaigns are 3 months, and you get a cap of 50 million.

It's one big entertainment show to make you think you have choice.

Nothing will change no matter who you vote for, the whole western democracy is corrupted.

Just check out these numbers, its quite disturbing, when you see the projected total cost for the 2012 campaign is actually near 6 billion, that money would solve a lot of problems if directed else were, were its needed.

Projected 2012 presidential campaign cost

presidential and congressional races this year is on pace to reach a record $5.8 billion, according to a new analysis.

Brilliant!!
And NO LOBBYING! STOP with the lobbying. It's sickening.
The bejillions of dollars spent on that could do way more than save schools....and we ALL KNOW IT!!
BRAVO to you nix!

Edit:
UGH. I hate it.

You'd think that each candidate could receive just, say, 2 hours worth of campaign ads to be used as they see fit. No yard signs, no stickers (although mine was Stewart/Colbert 2012 and I need to get a new one now the car is gone)....
no calls, just 2 hours of campaign ads for tv.

the media covers everything else for free on the internet and programs anyway.

so....also............TERM LIMITS. Yeah. No lobbying, no ad-spending, no yard signs or mailings, 2 hours total of TV ads, and that's that. Hell, the POTUS doesn't have to buy airtime for his State of the Union speeches or press coverages....why does he/(she, maybe someday) have to pay for campaign ads????

Bah! Now you're talking like a person with some common sense socialist! ( This edited version of Heff was brought to you by the committee to reelect any and all politicians - Graft, masquerading as "freedom", since 1913 ).

Seriously!

Then you know who the better candidate is, the one that makes the best use of the 3 months and 50 mil. See what you can do with those resources. it will be the electoral version of junkyard wars.

Let's get on the ballot!

(Just Kidding. THE LAST JOB that I would ever apply for as a sane person is POTUS.)

I don't know.....it just seems people who've never had to balance a personal checkbook to the dime,

or sweat the "float time" between sending a paper check to a vendor/creditor and hoping the paycheck comes in FIRST so they can make the deposit real quick to cover it.....

or plan a week's worth of menus based on the available (after bills) $40 remaining until next check.........

yeah, no one who hasn't lived that should EVER be in the White House, OR CONGRESS!!!!

keep fighting the good fight, friend!!

Oh I could never be potus, lol. If I don't get 8 hours of sleep, my IQ drops in half.

I would have to make decisions like: no questions before coffee. And if people think Obama uses the teleprompter too much, lol.

I can save America a LOT of hassle. I'll do the gig for 28k a year and an open bar tab.

I'll even forego that nasty 2 term limit and serve indefinitely.
