Weird. I had similar but not quite related experiences a few years ago...alarming at the time...but haven't happened again.
The time I really remember...I was a freshman in college (two years ago) - I lived in the dorms right on campus. I was in my room...and working on an
essay. I left to go to the 711 about 3/4 of a block away...to get some snack food. I bought some crap from 711, and left. About 1/4 of the way
back...an intense feeling of light-headedness and dizziness passed over me. It felt similar to the sensation you get when you stand up too fast from
a prolonged period of inactivity. But it progressively grew worse and worse...and my vision started to become "grainy" and eventually started
fading away.
After several seconds...I realized I was going to pass out. I was near a staircase to other dorm buildings near my dorm. So, fearing that I'd pass
out...I sat down on the dorm steps...and put my head in my hands as I was intensely dizzy and lightheaded. With my head in my hands...I continued
blacking out and after a few seconds, I completely lost consciousness. I mean, I don't even know what happened for a few seconds. I came to when
this girl from one of my classes tapped on my shoulder and asked me if I was allright. At first her voice was distant and didn't seem real but
eventually I came back to consciousness and realized what had happened...my vision still grainy and my head still in the clouds.
Anyway, after about a minute or two I was able to stand up under my own power and she helped me back to my dorm. Now, keep in mind that I am (I
presume) in perfectly good health...I am 5'9", 140 pounds...physically active...and wasn't sick at the time. So I'm still at a loss as to what
caused this...I never saw a doctor. But a few years previous to this...I was walking into my room (back at my house) and alll of the sudden I felt a
blackout coming on. Before I could even react, I completely blacked out and awoke a few seconds later on my hardwood floor, with a HUGE bruise on my
forehead. And it happened a few times in between this event and the event at my college.
Curiously enough, it hasn't happened since it did m freshman year. But it seems similar to what you experienced...perhaps the same. I guess I
wouldn't worry too much about it because I'm still fine 2 years after the fact...but I have always been VERY curious about what could have
happened...because it's still inexplicable to me to this day.
