I don't think my skin is thick enough to post on ATS.

Clearly it is a balloon, and yes in a hurried post in the few minutes I had, I mispelled balloon. The balloon was probably released from downtown fortworth, very far away from the fire.

I cannot adequately describe the difference in looking at the video live and in Newsbrowse vs seeing it after it has been posted to the website. I just made the mistake of trying to get info to ATS as fast as possibe.

I still think it is cool video, and unusual to catch something like that by accident but I am pretty sure this is my last attempt to be a contributer to ATS.

I will stick to just following what others post.

FWIW the fire in the background was litteraly across the street from my home, family actually packed up and got out until the fire was put out. That is the only reason I saw the anomaly to begin with.

Don't let one little thread stop you from contributing in the future. You just jumped the gun, as you pointed out in an earlier post.... learning experience. We all have 'em

It's a balloon, no question.

That sure was heck trying to get that blasted video to work; but, finally got it.

i think it is a balloon also. i held a ruler up to the object on my flatscreen and the object floats back and forth
(left and right),and slowly drifts to the right.
plus the colour and speed - definitely a balloon!
cool video though,good vigilance!

An NBC 5 video engineer noticed something odd on our Fort Worth skycam as we looked toward a fire near Meacham Airport, what do you think it is? (We looped the video so you could watch it over and over)

And then they took your credits away...

Don't let these fools bother you. People can be extremely rude on this site, but there are also many other helpful and cordial contributors. I can understand your shock seeing that on a smaller screen during a live cast.

Either way, keep on posting what you find strange or neat. I actually thought it was strange for the balloon to rise so fast.

Nice Capture!
That being said I'm almost certain it is in fact a balloon. Notice its floaty shift to the side as it travels upward.
Either way..Thanks!

It looks like a pink balloon, but one question I have now is was the film sped up, because I don't think a balloon would rise that fast, well I guess if it were really close to the camera it would appear to be moving faster than if it were further away.

Very cool of you to share, but I'm in agreement with most that is presents clearly as a balloon. Ever seen an actual missile launch? You camera shot covers a tiny slice of horizon; a missile launch would have crossed that distance many times faster and would leave a trail.
