Why doesn't every person just take full responsibility for themselves?

Seriously! Man has a right to accost a woman just because she shows some skin? MAN-UP! ( I just wanted an excuse to say that).

No really - seriously - - - men - - - women are not responsible for your behavior - urges - temptations - or anything else.

YOU are responsible for your behavior - urges - temptations - and everything else.

How about we just BAN religion?

If practicing faith infringes upon the rights of your friends and/or neighbors, then it's time to take a step back.

My 2 cents.

I have for years worked on mastery of self. One of the aspects of self mastery is to be master of thought/mind/emotions/physical reactions.

There have been quite a few times in my life, where i'm minding my own business, on my way to work, kissed/hugged my fiance on the way to work, or on my way to a meditation session, or whatever.......

When all of a sudden, some super hot chick walks across the street with a mini skirt, short shorts, low cut top, all tan, sweaty, super hot looking...... and instantly my inner peace is shot to pieces by all the lustful thoughts that enter my mind, including thoughts of talking to her in hopes of sleeping with her, even though a fiance is at home waiting for,me when i get back.

Its really all relative. I understand where these folks are coming from. If i didnt care about self mastery and enlightenment, i too would be talking massive ish about these folks. However, if that hot chick was modestly dressed, my mind would have an easier time with reactive thought

i have never understood as to why the muslems and the ultra-orthodox religions of this world consider that their god has made women in such a way that they need hiding away from sight .
if their god is so perfect why do they think that they have a duty to cover up his creations .?

and if they think that their god is imperfect and makes mistakes why do they think that they know better but still worship him or her ?

While I agree they're over doing it and have taken this to a disgusting extreme, I know there was originally a point to this.

The point was originally to become a monk and reach Enlightenment, or self mastery. Once this happened, then one can be back in the world with complete control over thought, action, reaction.

So these ultra-orthodox jews have taken something that used to be a certain way, and adopted it, into everyday life, perverting it entirely be trying to superimpose this law onto the rest of society. What thye need to do instead is reactivate monkhood, then the problem is solved.

Same thing in Catholicism..... abstaining from sex was something monks did, in order to reach enlightenment. They made it a rule that priests should be like this and abstaining from sex without proper guidance by a master who has completely mastered the sexual animalistic nature, results in repressed energy that manifests as perversion such as child molestation.

Wow. That's hilarious! It's really that difficult to just turn your head and not stare at the beautiful women? Isn't the whole point of following a strict religion to resist temptation rather than mask it? You talk about double standards. If you need a tool to follow your faith, you aren't really following the faith. Those things are really for wives that catch their men staring at other girls. Too funny.

I'd also imagine that would be terrible for your long term vision.

The more something is forbidden - - the more it becomes a temptation.

Really kind of defeats the purpose of self-responsibility.

I've been following the pushy behavior, chauvinism and social explosion of these fundamentalist sects on cult news and other sites for a while.

They've been refusing to sit with women on public transport, and even planes.

They've refused to do national service in Israel.
But it seems broader Israeli society has had enough of their nonsense.
They are now liable for military service and expected to conform to basic modern rules.

To me as a gay man it justifies a long held suspicion that Abrahamic religions are not heterosexual, but strongly homo-social and homoerotic.
They might rile against openly gay people and expressions, but that's just a front.
True "love" is reserved only for equals in the sect, which are other men.
Hence not just misogyny, but also homophobia become important to differentiate from what is constantly threatening.

That's just my personal thoughts.
Homophobic religion is profoundly and visibly homosexual in many respects.
It's a huge source of anxiety, because people who are proudly heterosexual don't have a problem with the other gender, or other sexualities.
Homophobia erupts where there is insecurity, and a big song and dance must be made to differentiate "patriarchal brotherhood" from lovers.

This group is not unique, and some religious people from the US already think it's a great idea.
I don't see how discriminating against women, or imposing medieval standards by a gang of bullies is ever a good idea.
It's great for these men to enjoy their religion, but they really shouldn't impose it on people.

So these glasses are probably just a temporary gimmick, but it's good for religious extremists to think about limiting themselves according to their chosen religion, because women in Western societies will no longer be bullied.

If I was a compulsive gambler living next to a site wheron a new casino was being completed, I would put moving high on my list of things to do. Wearing glasses seems like a similar, though much less drastic, approach.

Speaking about more drastic approaches, "If thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out." OK, I know it wasn't meant literally, but it seems to fit.

Sorry, I can't seem to find the fault with the glasses.

Two ideas reoccurring religious traditions pop into mind while reading this:
1) That sex is immoral
2) Women are to blame for men's lust

Both of these ideas are so dumb I can't believe that people subscribe to it. "Oh it's pleasurable therefore it's obviously a sin, and it's clearly not my [man's] fault for this feeling I have. It's women's fault for being so appealing looking! Suppress my urges and women!" I feel sorry for the women here.

In a car crash, you have no control over your actions. A hot woman walking down the street doesn't make you fly out of your seat and gravitate to her. It's about self control. Seat belt is a bad example.

This doesn't remove temptation, even blind men have lustful thoughts. Reproduction is NATURAL, sexual attraction is NATURAL, and should not be shamed.

let them screw up their own vision.. its better than them imposing their beliefs on others who dont to believe what they believe.

You do have control, most crashes can be prevented defensive driving. And if we humans had self control at all times jails would be unnecessary.

At a deeper level, it probably has less to do with religious doctrine and more to do with power. An attractive woman, by virtue of her sexuality, tells men what to do, and some men can't take it.
