Once upon a time there was a whole bunch of nothing, zero, non existence, not even time.
Then suddenly, magically an explosion, caused by all the nothing that wasnt in existence with the fuel made up of nothing (there was no fuel) exploded (as if by magic) and everything came in to existence. Everything like;
Light
Time
Oxygen
Metals
Water,
Heat
Cold
Chemicals
liquids
in fact every element from the elementary table from nothing, as if by spurious parlour tricks with a top hat and white gloves nothing created everything, everything from nothing came in to existence. Amazing, but believe this.
Not only did this explosion from nothing create everything, it structured it. Gravity from nothing some how magically drew solar systems and planets in to forms, then
Abiogenesis.....from nothing
Love
hate
anger
compassion
and so it keeps going

Yeah I know this is silly and to a degree its a troll of the same thread attacking Christians, describing them as childish, but it does serve a purpose, it shows that everyone believes in fairytails and such silly things as creation from nothing and abiogenesis from nothing. The so called lifespark.
How dirt and water magically turned in to life.

Now dont get your knickers in a twist, this is a bit of a joke and a bit of a punch, but meant with no offence.

I accept your belief, your faith in magic. Your child like trust in the men who tell you what to believe, I also understand why you hate Christianity. Thats ok as well.

This thread is just a little dig, it doesnt warrant arguments or flags. Relax.

The Big Bang Theory states that all the matter, energy, and light were all compacted into an infinitely dense point. The universe then expanded tremendously. It doesn't state that all these things came from nothing.

People believe in evolution because research suggests that it happens in nature.

Does that mean God didn't create a Big Bang? Then willed all lifeforms to evolve and develop and adapt? I believe anything is possible.

This is why I can't help but be agnostic

Once upon a time there was a magical invisible man in the sky, and one day he got bored and decided to make everything, so, he did.

Hey OP, you ever heard of the "Watchmaker Analogy?"

en.wikipedia.org...

Pretty much states that if you're walkin along...and you find a watch with all its inner workings and reliable functions you may conclude that someone in fact designed the watch.

And in some ways we have all stumbled upon the Universe, and each draw our own conclusions from what we have found.

Again, I believe in evolution, but in my mind that does not eliminate the possibility of creation as well.

No I dont think we need divisiveness' either, what we need is a little tolerance
and I totally agree with your post
But I like to have a little fun, can we have fun?

This has to be the most ill-informed, not thought out and stupidest thread I have ever seen.

It doesn't even warrant an argument.

I could sit here and explain to you how planets and solar systems form, how gravity works and how elements are formed, but I don't see why I should waste my time. It all makes sense, you just don't understand it. Research it in your own time before slagging it off.

Can't you see the irony in defending a religion by comparing science to magic?

Yeah I bet it does state that, and by faith in that theory you believe it. Oh lets praise the holy atom

At least we know atoms exist.

and so do Christians.See the atom is its own evidence.
The big bang is a theory, its not proven science.
It is the prevailing theory because most people believe it.

OP, the thread you are posting in response to has a very good point. What is Christianity? It's a story from a very old book, just like a fairy tale. It is no more credible than a fairy tale, there is no more proof and it makes no more sense considering what we now know about the universe. There is literally no difference between believing the Bible and believing a children's story book, the only reason that the concept of believing a children's book seems strange is because you know for a fact that it's made up.

To each their own, I don't have anything against religious people, but don't talk crap whilst trying to defend it.

No it's the prevailing theory because of large amount of evidence pointing to such an event.
(For the record, that's how science works, evidence and logic)

Christians have no evidence that exists outside of their head.

i came into this thread because i am [technically] an adult, and i refuse to grow up
but both magic and evolution appear to be thin on the ground here.

this is the second time in as many weeks that i have read somebody purporting to talk about evolution
and then bring the origin of the universe into it..
the cumulative effect of a biological imperative cannot explain a physical phenomena, sorry.
can we get back to the more important issue of refusing to grow up?

I was not describing JUST biological evolution. I thought that was obvious

Biological evolution is just 1 type of evolution as I understand it
The Different Types Of Evolution I know of

The following types of Evolution are described:

1. Cosmic Evolution: The origin of time, space and matter, by the Big Bang

2. Chemical Evolution: The origin of higher elements from hydrogen.

3. Stellar and Planetary Evolution: The origin of stars and planets.

4. Organic Evolution: The origin of Life.

5. Macro-Evolution: The changing from one kind of species to another kind of species.

6. Micro-Evolution: The variation within kinds of species.
