Two militants were killed and a third detained after a 2 hour firefight where forces surrounded a house on the outskirts of Nazran, near Chechnya.
Two women and six children were also injured in the skirmish. The militants are believed to be associated with a rebel group behind civilian attacks
and possibly related to the hostage-taking in a Russian school last month.
Interfax quoted a Federal Security Service spokesman in Ingushetia as saying that Magomed Khashiyev had also been involved in organising the seizure
of hostages in a school in Beslan, in neighboring North Ossetia, last month. More than 330 people were killed in the tragedy.
The firefight in Ingushetia, west of Chechnya, broke out last night after security forces surrounded a house on the outskirts of the region"s main
city, Nazran, where distant relatives of one of the militants lived, a duty officer with the Ingush regional police department said.
However, Russian news agencies quoted a Federal Security Service spokesman, Major General Ilya Shabalkin, as saying the wounded included the wives of
two militants and five children of one of the men.

I hope this incident is based on hard evidence, and not just a "knee-jerk" reaction.
Oct 13 is the 40th (and last) day of the official mourning period from the Breslan massacre. After that, I'm guessing the gloves come off and we'll
see a lot more of this. Chechnya isn't going to be a fun place to be.
