I don't buy the medal angle....they've had those medals at the event center under lock and armed guard....

As you know many are predicting a terrible event that will kill many....Rockefeller and his team predicts 13,000 deaths...

Rockefellers Hack-Attack

Devastating shocks like September 11, the Southeast Asian tsunami of 2004, and the
2010 Haiti earthquake had certainly primed
the world for sudden disasters. But no one
was prepared for a world in which large-scale catastrophes would occur with such breathtaking frequency. The years 2010 to 2020 were dubbed the “doom decade” for good reason: the 2012 Olympic bombing, which killed 13,000, was followed closely by an earthquake in Indonesia killing 40,000, a tsunami that almost wiped
out Nicaragua, and the onset of the West China Famine, caused by a once-in-a-millennium drought linked to climate change.

Sometimes when you hide things in plain site nobody notices.

They were heading away from the Tower of London so I'm going with medals too.

Cannot imagine it is medals, as these are not actually that high in valueclick here to see news article on the real value of the olympic medals

The only reason they would protect them this much is to stop negative stories if anything did happen.
No doubt they have a big stack of spares, just in case.

So with medals possibly taken out of the equation, what else could it be?

I guess like most on here, if anything it was a publicity stunt but they could have been delivering
all the medals. that would have made the most sense

To me this does not look like a convey. I was expecting to see a more "regimented" look to it. More than likely they are just transferring the medals around or something else important to the Olympics. A proper convey will consist of an evenly set out number of vehicles (usually!). The officers in the unmarked vehicles will be assigned to a specific unit.

LOL, ok what would be the obvious answer.

During the olympics high value items being transported through London.

Medals anyone.

Was that sarcastic? Each gold medal is worth about $600 bucks American. Silver $300 and bronze $5.

If there are 2100 medals awarded (teams) and they are divided equally (which they are not, there are a more bronze) you'd get a total monetary value of $633,500ish dollars. Or about $405,000 pounds.

Since all the medals are not given out at once.. and certainly not at the same field or building .... why then would they all be in a van?

oh, that's just the biologicals they are spreading for the global pandemic. It's slow incubating so nothing to worry about till the athletes get home to their countries. Carry on.

Well it seems most think it could be the medals.
I agree with what rockpuck says above
I don't think it's a VIP either as they would just use privacy glass and a limo.
What ever it was, with that amount of bikes to stop traffic for swift passage. They did not want that van to slow down, let alone stop.
I watched a couple royal and presidential convoys. They where nothing like this. Only Four bikes, two police cars two range rovers and a limo. Other slower moving public convoys had extra cars.
What a terrible life it must be to need so much protection to feel safe, I almost feel sorry for them

edit on 4-8-2012 by Wifibrains because: (no reason given)

As I have not responded to enough thread here I am unable to make a new topic but thought the following image would perhaps fit in here well. We have seen a lot of police presence in London (obviously) since the Olympics but no as much military as expected. This image was taken yesterday in back end of Torrens Street (Angel, Islington) from the office building next to it. Worrying!

I was thinking about this...but since the convoy is filmed setting out at 8.40 am, and then returning again at 4.30 pm. Could it be something as innocuous as the Police security detail for the Men's Cycle Road Race? That was on the 29th, right? Makes more sense to me...otherwise why did it take them so long to go from A to wherever and back again?

It could be that, we will never know. All we can do is speculate.
Maybe they where late! Lol. And the white van man was taking advantage of their slipstream

It was taken by a friend of mine that works in the office building, I thought the ATS members would find it interesting! Don't forget the weird looking humvee I do like the way it looks like the tank is trying to hide behind the wheelie bin!

I dont think its the Van that needed escorting, I think it was those SUVs. The Van was probably just a command center, with the SUVs carrying the package, most likely someone worth a lot. They make SUVs these days with bullet proff everything, and they still just look like ordinary cars.
