In the early hours of this morning a 14 year old girl was coming home from the city's annual Goose Fair in Nottingham. At around 0030hrs, BST, her mother ran out into the streets after she heard gunshots; she found her daughters body in the middle of the street. Tributes to the 14 year old and her family have been laid over the day on the spot she was killed.
Danielle Beccan came under fire from a passing car early on Saturday after going to the city's annual Goose Fair.

A witness said Danielle's mother had run into the street on hearing shots to see her daughter slumped on the ground.

A police officer appealed to witnesses. "It could have been your daughter, your son," he said. "These people are evil and they need to go to prison."

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

In the last 12 months there has been over 50 deaths relating to GSW's in certain parts of England alone, and over 100 injuries relating to riccochets and GSWs aswell.

People may think after such laws that will prevent another Dunblane or the farm shooting in England that Britain hasnt got gun control me we do.

Most of the weapons that come into the UK come from either America or the Middle East through smuggling and illegal trading.

What makes everyone so sick and disgusted with such crimes as this, is not only the fact that the guns are still getting through tight security, they are being used by children as young as 12 in some parts of the country!!

Prayers to the family.

How does this surprise you. what point are you trying to make.

lets see here --> role models
When you have rap in mainstream media, your going to have boys wanting to be gangsters. Rap is popular in the states as is the gangster life.

"We are living in Amerika" coincidentally by Rammstein, brings up such issues.
God Bless America.

1st ammendment in America gives people the right to own guns. Bowling for Colombine by Michael Moore addresses some of these issues, although he exaggerates the facts the premise is clear. Owning guns makes one want to use it.

that really does show what you know websurfer. first off, unless i'm mistaken, this incident took place in england. so most of what you said is irrelevant. second, it's the 2nd amendment that grants the right to gun ownership, not the first. third, i happen to agree with you on the negative influence of rap upon MY (america's) culture and you can be damn sure i'm doing what i can to erridicate such filth. fourth, "amerika" by rammstein is a great song. fifth, Bowling for Columbine is exaggerated but has a good message. however michael moore is still a fat, socialist, jackass who loves making money off the capitalist system and then bashing it.

Police believe Danielle spent the evening at the fair with friends.

A vehicle pulled up alongside them as they walked home and as many as six shots were fired, hitting her in the stomach.

She died despite emergency surgery at Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham.

Thats all I can say.
This garbage should be exterminated...

Wait? y First Amendment? BFC? First, as said, it is SECOND AMENDMENT! Also, Moore supports gun control, not banning, and is in the NRA. And again, this happened in England, where guns have been banned. Hmmm, isn't that everyone who supports guns? Look, you don't have them, the criminals do. So why ban guns so only criminals have guns?

its Disgusting, no matter what children should be left out of the crossfire

we are too soft on criminals... gun crime is going up... violent crime is going up

people are not safe in the streets anymore

Its shameful this act. Hope they kill the perps in a shootout, instead of arresting them, as they will only get 5 yrs with our silly courts.

Your safe if you twat them in the face. Where I live, many wannabe "gangstas" (mostly kids about 15) are always trying to mug you/start fights. I'll tell you one thing, with a little bit of self defence training, it is funny to send them back to their mums crying!

It is a gratifying site watching 6 (up until 5 mins ago, wannabe gansta muppets) youths run, after they have bottled you, as you have just stood your ground and kicked arse!

I am not racist in saying this (I speak from expierience), but it is mainly from the immigrant black/asian communities that most street crime stems from (most organised crime is by whites, with the usual bunch of misfits thrown in), but the police are powerless to do anything (even with stop and search powers) as the PC brigade will start bawling. Perhaps there are cultural issues that need to be addressed.

Is it any wonder that inner city schools (who recieve the same funding as any other school) are failing, when the majority of them are wanna be big black gangstas, and turn somewhere like West Reading (where I live) into some "gangsta hood"..

They perceive it as cool, and take pleasure in random violence. it is time we as a nation stood up too these thugs and faced them down on the street. they are nothing other than cowards, and if challenged, will rarely last more than 5 mins before you have beaten the crap out of them.

Take back the streets from these thugs, and we will end this stupidity brought on us by this gun culture, penis extension, my hood is better than yours bollocks..

well said stumason

but sadly nobody in-charge would ever admit that is how things are

the yob and thug population in my area are sadly increasing, they are mainly imbetween 14 - 21 usally led by the eldest amongst them.

take away the protection they have by traveling in groups and they revert back into being scared little children, who claim that they are the victim

We need true zero-tolerance to reclaim to streets not politically correct BS

I'm curious where the guns game from. Russia? USA? For gun bans to work it has to be at a global level. Otherwise they'll just come in from another country.

Exactly, the sad thing is though that i see at least 1 police car a minute go down a main road near me (also where most of the violence takes place), but nothing happens.

One time I was attacked by 2 black youths after my weed (they saw where I went and decided they wanted it for free). Dozy feckers didnt see my 3 mates waiting for me.... mwooohahahaha, i think they decided in the end it would be better to get a job and pay for their own!

Other expierences (I seem to attract an awful lot of mugging attempts, think it is because i look like an easy target, i am 10 stone 5'11") have led to belive that it is like those little dinosaurs on jurrassic park. they attack in packs when they think they have the advantage. Take out the big ugly dude at the front, and watch the rest just melt away...

People need to wake up and do something....but most people in this country would rather someone else do something about and take no responsibility themselves (parents, residents etc).

If I caught my daughter (she is only 1 now, but later on in life) doing anything that i have been on the receivning end of then rest assured i will take her to the pigs myself (after a damn good hiding too !:lol

Nottinghamshire police are admitting that they are very confused about why a 14yr old was gunned down on her way back home from a Fair on saturday morning. The police, around 100 officers and CS Investigators, who are involved in gathering information and clues from the area are appealing for any witnesses or information.

The Friends of the girl, Danielle Beccan, say that there was a lot of tension in the area before she was killed by a direct GSW to the abdomen.

Sandra Smith, 16, said: "Everyone knew that there was going to be a rumble between the St Ann's lot and people from Radford or The Meadows."

She added: "When Danielle was shot there was a gang of local boys roaming the area but they weren't with Danielle. This is a boy thing. Why kill an innocent girl?"

Reverend Anna Ratcliffe has been comforting the family over the weekend and told BBC Radio Nottingham there is great shock and disbelief in the area and a growing sense that "enough is enough".

There`s 1000 automatic assault rifles missing in Norway.
Stolen from the military...
In that case, a ban have no effect.

One man is held in custody after he was arrested in connection with the killing of 14 year old Danielle Beccan. The arrest happened yesterday afternoon and police are declining to give out more information.

The police are now positive this was a very emotive driven attack...but are unsure of what the motive was and if it was a case of mistaken ID.

I agree with those who think gun banning contributes to this kind of thing more than it prevents it. Stiffer penalties on those who committ crime is the only deterrant.

How the hell does taking my my old single barrel shotgun off the mantle help stop those smuggling illegal weapons from killing? It doesn't, it just gives them the security that their victims are defenseless.

You want a safer UK? Unban guns to the citizens and give courses in highschool on proper and safe usage. Most kids who use guns in crimes have never been taught how dangerous nor any respect for the weapon or the finality of its use on a human being.

I grew up with a gun (.22 rifle) in the house and even throughout my teen years and several altercations with peers, it never once occurred to me to use a gun in that way. I was taught at a young age that a gun is to be carried unloaded, stored, and secured that way. Fired only at an unobstructed target with a full view behind it.

Kids today aren't taught to think of how final that finger on the trigger can be. I hear people say education is the key all the time and they want to introduce every other social program under the sun in schools (which is in large part responsible for alot of this sensless killing) so why not something which will help stop gun violence like a course on gun safety?

They have now arrested 5 men in connection to this shooting, although details are skant at the moment.

Banning something does not make it go away, everything that has been banned can still be got hold of some way or another.

When i heard this news i was abit shocked, and you cannot blame it on the rap culture as i listen to alot of rap/hip-hop etc its actually my favorite type of music and it does not make me want to get hold of a gun and go around killing people or even just carry a gun around with me just because some people think it is cool.

I heard this girls friends comment on the radio and to be honest they sounded very rough which makes me believe they live in a rough estate, which also makes me consider that the area has a low income.

I blame this not on certain cultures but that fact that where these people are brought up and the peers they hang around with, maybe certain factors contribute to these people wanting to be cool so they get hold of a gun or any sort of weapon, but it all comes down to the area and the peers they are brought up with.

Only the governments can sort this out.
