TABA, Egypt - A few dozen Bedouin tribesmen have been detained on suspicion they supplied the explosives for coordinated car bombings at two Egyptian resorts that killed at least 33 people, most of them Israelis, officials said Saturday.

Security officials said several dozen Bedouin tribesmen were being questioned about suspicions they provided explosives to the attackers. A senior police official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said later that 20 people were being held, some of them quarry workers who presumably had access to explosives.

Certainly those being detained will be investigated for links to any and all terrorist organizations including Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Egyptian Islamic Jihad, and Al-Qaida.

This attack on Israeli tourists will put a strain on already tense relations between Egypt and Israel. Could this have been the motivation for the attack?

Sinai was a territory captured by Israel from Egypt in the 1967 Middle East war. The Sinai was returned to Egypt only after much international intervention.
