Yesterday my uber liberal sister who adores Obama, I thought told me this:" I plan to NOT VOTE for any incumbent in the next few elections. The professional politicians have so messed up this country that I refuse to vote for even one of them."

Wow! We found common ground. I'm fiscally conservative, socially conservative (in many areas, not all) and consider myself a Libertarian and thought we'd never reach common ground. I think Obama has nearly destroyed our country.

And we agree: All professional politicians need to go and whenever we have the opportunity in the future, we will both vote for the citizen nonprofessional politician.

And then I was sent this by my staunch Republican Mother:
Wal-Mart vs. The Morons

1. Americans spend $36,000,000 at Wal-Mart Every hour of every day.
2. This works out to $20,928 profit every minute!
3. Wal-Mart will sell more from January 1 to St. Patrick's Day (March 17th) than Target sells all year.
4. Wal-Mart is bigger than Home Depot + Kroger + Target +Sears + Costco + K-Mart combined.
5. Wal-Mart employs 1.6 million people, is the world's largest private employer, and most speak English.
6. Wal-Mart is the largest company in the history of the world.
7. Wal-Mart now sells more food than Kroger and Safeway combined, and keep in mind they did this
in only fifteen years.
8. During this same period, 31 big supermarket chains sought bankruptcy.
9. Wal-Mart now sells more food than any other store in the world.
10. Wal-Mart has approx 3,900 stores in the USA of which 1,906 are Super Centers; this is 1,000 more than it had five years ago.
11. This year 7.2 billion different purchasing experiences will occur at Wal-Mart stores. (Earth's population is approximately 6.5 Billion.)
12. 90% of all Americans live within fifteen miles of a Wal-Mart.

You may think that I am complaining, but I am really laying the ground work for suggesting that MAYBE we should hire the guys who run Wal-Mart to fix the economy.

This should be read and understood by all Americans… Democrats, Republicans, EVERYONE!!

To President Obama and all 535 voting members of the Legislature
It is now official that the majority of you are corrupt morons:
a.. The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775. You have had 234 years
to get it right and it is broke.
b.. Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 74 years to get it
right and it is broke.
c.. Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 71 years to get it right
and it is broke.
d.. War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 45 years to get it right;
$1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the
poor" and they only want more..
e.. Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 44 years
to get it right and they are broke.
f.. Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 39 years to get it right
and it is broke.
g.. The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence
on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion
a year and we import more oil than ever before. You had 32 years to get it right
and it is an abysmal failure.

You have FAILED in every "government service" you have shoved down our
throats while overspending our tax dollars.

AND YOU WANT AMERICANS TO BELIEVE YOU CAN BE TRUSTED
WITH A GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM ??

Someone please tell me what the HELL's wrong with all the people that run this country!!!!!!
We're "broke" & can't help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless etc.,???????????
In the last months we have provided aid to Haiti , Chile , and Turkey .. And now Pakistan ........previous home of bin Laden. Literally, BILLIONS of DOLLARS!!!

Our retired seniors living on a 'fixed income' receive no aid nor do they get any breaks…

AMERICA: a country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed hungry, elderly going without 'needed' meds, and mentally ill without treatment -etc,etc.

Imagine if the *GOVERNMENT* gave 'US' the same support they give to other countries. Sad isn't it?

WHAT IS HAPPENING?

We all agree a Liberal Democrat, a Libertarian, a Conservative Republican:
despite our diverse philosophies, all incumbents must go.

Having all new people can't be any worse than what we have had. Perhaps during their learning curve they won't manage to screw things up and we'll get a break from over regulation, over private intrusion, and being treated like children who need a nanny,.

What say you?

the best thing to do would be to limit each person to two terms in office maximum for any office that requires a vote from a town halls upwards and make it easier to vote out someone mid term who's as much use as a chocolate fireguard

First, I say you should format your post so I know when you're quoting an email and when you're not quoting an email.

Second, Wal-Mart is one of largest recipients of state and local tax subsidies in the nation. It also bases 25-40% of it's profits off of food stamps. Wal-Mart also has a large number of its employees spend their paychecks at Wal-Mart.

If the board of directors for Wal-Mart ran the company they would raise taxes, hire half the population as government employees then cut pay and benefits across the board. They would then nationalize services of everything under the sun, eliminating state and local competition and then raise the prices of those services when there's no competition left.

America is not a business and should not be run like one. Reagan killed social security and Bush II killed the USPS. There are other points to be made but I'll let you ponder on those before offering more.

Your response was exactly what I would expect from a self identified socialist.
Your paradigm states that professional politicians and the government have nearly godlike powers of goodness and intellect who must guide the poor ignorant masses for the protections and fairness of the ignorant masses. In the meantime the gods on high can take multimillion dollar vacations and throw parties worthy of Versailles because they are so intelligent, caring and all knowing that they deserve it.
If Bubba's like Bush get into office the socialist thinks, they can do no right and must be the cause of all the worlds problems. No matter the socialists put the country into more debt in 3 years then all previous governments combines. No matter they hide that the 2000th soldier is dead in the war they refused to end and ramped up (Afghanistan). No matter they send soldiers to war and then cut their funding while they lie dead and dying on the battlefield. No these socialists are doing what's best for the poor ignorant masses.
These professional politicians you admire so much make laws that apply to the masses but not themselves, like equal pay for men and women, and hid the fact for many years that they exempted themselves from insider trading laws whilst getting rich off it. I guess because they are so benevolent to the ignorant masses they deserve to be exempt from the laws they place on others because they are too godlike to do anyone real harm.
Yes darling the political gods say to us: you eat peas and lettuce and drink water while we eat sloppy barbecue, elaborate desserts and drink alcohol you paid for: because the professional politician really loves the poor ignorant masses.

We need to boot them all out on their asses and prosecute those who made millions bilking the system with insider trading for the past however many years - and hold them accountable to the laws they make for others - and hold them to the medical benefits they give the masses like medicaid and medicare, or at the very least military health care.

But according to your paradigm the professional politician is above reproach, unless they hold a libertarian or capitalist viewpoint, then they must be evil to the core.

To cure our country we need to return to the citizen legislator, limited to two six year terms for any political job held.

1...all lobbyists money...only donation acceptable is maximum of $1,000 from each human american per year.
2...all political TV, radio, and personal media device ads prior to 90 days before election.
3...all voter registration changes done in SECRET and/or in EVEN numbered years.
4...all vote TABULATIONS done WITHOUT full public access.

This may or may not surprise you but I agree with most of what you just said. We do need to eliminate the professional politician, they become corrupt and start focusing more on their reelection than they do on the people of their districts.

You too can work with a self-identified socialist and rid this country of corrupt government. I believe that we shouldn't simply blame the government for all our ills when massive corporations are just as capable and just as dangerous to our freedom and our livelyhood.

I think the entire government should be under corruption investigation.

Every last one of them.

Problem is, finding persons to form an agency of people who wont be subject to corruption!!

The answer........ Put their families in captivity until the investigation is complete.

And if the persons doing the investigations give into corruption therein,,,,, we kill their families.

Desperate times, desperate measures!!!

Keep it going until every office of every department of every agency of every program recieving taxpayer money has been investigated.

And any and all persons, from the top to the bottom, has been exposed, and jailed or put to death.

Misspending of taxper money for all persons involved of knowledgable= life sentence in some desert prison.

Lieing to/deceiving the american people for personal gains, interest, or protection = death by release from an aircraft at 30,000 feet into the ocean. Without a parachute.

Theres more i would suggest, but whats the use!!!!

Fact is the government is to big of an entity.

It owns us. And from birth..... We owe it.

Those elected, perpetuate it.

Because they must. Or face being removed by the true Powers that be.

Only way realisticly to fix it is through external intervention or an ELE.

Funny we cant be trusted to fix our own problems because of greed ans selfishness.

We need to get rid of all professional politicians, I agree, but through the vote and through due process as outlined in the constitution and other founding documents.

If we kill or imprison them without a trial we are as bad as they are and things will go from bad to worse. We definitely positively should NOT klll them for political crimes, that is barbaric, to say the least. It would create anarchy which is far far worse than socialism or even communism.

edit on 24-6-2012 by grandmakdw because: I forgot to emphasize that killing politicians is not an answer and is barbaric.

Corporations don't tell us we can't have 32 oz of soda at a time, etc. They don't try to run our lives. They exist to figure out what we want or make us think we want their product and give it to us. Corporations aren't nannies that go about telling everyone how to run their lives to the smallest detail. They actually could care less about issues like abortion and such that people care so strongly about one way or the other.
If we don't like corporations, all we have to do is stop buying their product, and poof, they are gone.
NBC,ABC,CBS are huge corporations, if we don't like what they give us, we can turn the channel, like people did in droves to CNN, and pretty soon, poof - gone. It has happened in the past over and over and will continue to happen in the future.
They are no where near the threat that our government can be to the people in the US. They can't imprison us for no reason and keep us there like one of the latest presidential executive orders commands. That is a danger to the populous.
The professional politicians need to all be voted out, investigated and prosecuted for any crimes they say the american people can commit but they are exempt from.

They do run our lives, they bribe politicians with millions of dollars every year to enact laws that benefit them. Two-thirds of the average congressman's time is spent pandering to major corporations to donate to the next campaign.

You can't just 'turn away' from a corporation. They are giant, destructive squid with tentacles that reach farther and deeper than 'Bob's BBQ' down the street.

Koch Industries has a dozen or so subsidiaries that have a dozen or so products each. Are you going to stop buying paper products from Georgia-Pacific? How about farming? Are you going to stop buying farm products because of the fertilizer their subsidiary Koch Fertilizer. I know, stop buying carpet because of their subsidiary INVISTA, who owns the companies Stainmaster and Lycra. In addition to $50 million given to congress since 2006. How much have you given to congress in six years? Who do you think congress is going to listen to more?

Let's say you don't want to give money to Warren Buffett. Stop buying Fruit of the Loom. You should probably stop flying too because the pilot was likely trained by Berkshire subsidiary FlightSafety International. GEICO, Dairy Queen, Helzburg Diamonds...there are many, many more.

The point is, you can't just stop supporting these corporations by not buying from them because they're everywhere. They have subsidiaries who have subsidiaries who own partial stocks in other major corporations. They spend millions of dollars on lobbying and Political Action Committees and write our laws and the speeches that our congressman give on the floors of congress.
