The President never enjoyed a filibuster-proof majority, that's just a lie that you and every other crazy assed right winger would like to have us believe. You sir are the one who needs to be educated.

You utilized filibuster-proof and I put it into quotes for a reason; if you don't understand why, than you can continue to think it the way you wanted to. But you can call me "crazy assed right wringer" all you want. Ironic -- I came calm and collective and you start spouting out that I am the "crazy assed"...

I fully understand the separation of powers and I know very well how the legislature works, you on the other hand seem to live in some make believe world where you make crap up to support your vision and then call them facts. You're not Rupert Murdoch are you?

Then explain your views -- you went off on "majority" rules and "simple majorities" -- when the whole of the Federal Government is designed to not have carte blanche majority rule. In years where one party has a majority in seats or a House, the minority reigns strong to ensure that "majority" rule doesn't come about.

Stay classy and maybe when you grow up we can have an honest discussion on the matter. Till then, spout your vitriolic words and try to pass them off as some sort of intelligence.

Yeah, well that was because of the fact that your use of the filibuster-proof quote is a bald faced lie. Obama never had one and for you to say that he did is just another "crazy-assed" lie.

I never said that government was supposed to be ruled by carte blanche majority but to filibuster every piece of legislation brought before the floor is nothing short of pure obstructionism.

en.wikipedia.org...

A filibuster is a type of parliamentary procedure where an individual extends debate, allowing a lone member to delay or entirely prevent a vote on a given proposal. It is commonly referred to as talking out a bill,[1] and characterized as a form of obstruction in a legislature or other decision-making body.

Furthermore, for you to imply that a majority vote in Congress should not be recognized or carry with it any real weight, is just plain ludicrous. Why the hell do they vote on anything if the outcome of the vote doesn't matter? Where does it state that any and all legislation must receive 60% of the vote in order to get enacted?

What we have been witnessing since Obama was elected, is the complete and utter destruction of the legislative process by the GOP/TP to insure that the MINORITY rules the day. Now if that's not "crazy-assed" then maybe you can tell me what is.

It almost sounds as if you think our government was designed to be led by the minority.

Sorry if you don't like it, but I can them like I see them.

Hey there...take a deep breath. I.C.E. is "part" of the Dept of Homeland Security. The ABC article you reference most probably refers to the ICE chart I posted. I merely state that that chart shows an current estimate of 310,000 which I guess rounds to in your world 400,000.

You do realize that I.C.E. is the part of the Department of Homeland Security, right?

Hey...... I found a button, wonder who lost it?

Also if you take the claim of that number being more that twice the average of the Bush Era as they do in the article... it doesn't add up. The Bush Era average is 251,454.

This is what the chart you posted actually said;

The memo said that as of February 15, ICE was on track to deport 310,000, and outlined steps ICE would be taking in order to "meet or exceed" the goal of 400,000.

There was no "rounding off" on my part. The 310,000 figure was indeed an estimate made early in the year, (February 15th) and it went on to clearly state that they expected to "meet or exceed" the goal of 400,000 by year's end.

Furthermore, the article I linked in my post stated that the 400,000 number was more than twice the number deported by Bush in his first term and more than 30% greater than his average when he left office. It never said a damn word about the "Bush Era."

You really should spend more time concentrating on comprehending that actual content of what you read and quit trying to insert false statements into quoted text.

You are giving MSNBC a free ride IMO. Call em all the time if you are going to call them. MSNBC does things just as bad, if not worse, than Fox does. I know Fox does it, I also know MSNBC does it.

I'm not giving anyone a free ride. The point I'm trying to get across is that there's a huge difference in having a liberal bias and propagating right-wing lies. Every media outlet puts their slant on things, but to sit there and fabricate lies and then propagate them as truth in order to support your bias is about a low as one can get.

What was it that Jack Nicholson said; "You can't handle the truth." So why not just let Fox News make one up for you?

While you and I may think people don't actually get their news from a show such as Stewart's....never underestimate the American public.

A poll released earlier this year by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press found that 21 percent of people aged 18 to 29 cited "The Daily Show" and "Saturday Night Live" as a place where they regularly learned presidential campaign news.

www.cbsnews.com...

Nearly one-third of Americans under the age of 40 say satirical news-oriented television programs like The Colbert Report and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart are taking the place of traditional news outlets.
Thirty-two percent (32%) of adults ages 30-39 believe this to be true, while 42% disagree, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.
Thirty percent (30%) of those ages 18-29 say programs like the two Comedy Central shows that feature news reports with a comic twist are replacing traditional news outlets, but 35% disagree and another 35% are not sure.

I know about these statistics. It sounds sad but the truth of the matter is that they're actually getting more truth from Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert than they are from the mainstream media sources.

Why did he not have a supermajority? It seemed to me he did after Al Franken was seated, up until Scott Brown won the special election in Jan. 2010.

O hai der ats,

Here is da thing, dems and repubs are both scumbag labelings. Fox sucks and CNN blows. It is nothing moar than a ploy to pit one side against the other side, ya know to keep ya arguing. Nevermind that economic equality is nearing an all time grotesque large gap between the rich and poor. Nevermind that the middle class is nearly extinct. Nevermind that Bush Jr. and the repubs pissed all over our constitutional rights and sold us out to corporations. Nevermind that Obama and the dems are doing the same #ing thing. Nevermind that our government bailed out corporate banks, but let our veterans come home from war to face foreclosures.

See none of those things are important, you just turn on your television and get enraged that the "other team" is doing something that "your team" has done before and will do in their next term. No need to go and talk to that "smelly hippie" down the street, he thinks differently than you anyway. No need to listen to your fiscally conservative neighbor, he's probably a christian fundie anyway.

The one thing that history has taught us, is that nothing ever gets done if we sit and rationally talk with each other. No compromises can be good, compromising is for the weak. We have to force our beliefs/ideas on people or the planet will implode! No, no its far better to spew venomous hatred, the other side always folds if your vile is worse than theirs...

When I turn it on Fox news, most of the time it is like watching a SNL skit of right wing news. But it is real.

What do you people consider a "liberal media bias"? Not having birther discussion? Or do you mean not reporting with extremist views that most of the country doesn't have?

There sure isn't a liberal bias on talk radio

Jon Stewart Skewers Fox News For Using Edited Obama Video To Criticize Immigration Policy

When is he going to start 'skewering' MSNBC for selectively editing video to make Zimmerman look like a racist? When is he going to start 'skewering' MSNBC for selectively editing Rick Perry and Mitt Romney video? Jon Stewart is a funny guy, but he's partisan and not a news source. I wish he'd be balanced, then the show would be great.

Zimmerman is a racist! You don't have to watch MSNBC to figure that out, just listen to the 46 calls he made to 911 from 2004 up to the day of the shooting. They ooze with racism.
www.thedailybeast.com...
.

OH PLEASE! :shk: Zimmerman did his job. He called in activities that didn't fit into a quiet neighborhood. And some of those activities belonged to black people. That doesn't make him a racist. That's absurd. You do know that Zimmerman is hispanic/white/black right?

Example of NBC selectively editing Zimmerman tape to charge racial tensions
ATS thread - NBC Caught Selectively Editing Zimmerman Tape

So where was Jon Stewart when NBC did all their partisan selective editing and their bizzare selective editing of Zimmerman to charge racial tensions? What amazes me is that some people think Stewart is some kind of news source when in fact the guy is just a left wing commedian. Sure he's funny. But he's one sided and doesn't exactly get things right.

What Fox News has done is all that Fox News does, which is to lie, lie, lie...... They have gone to court to defend their right to do so! MSNBC does nothing of the kind and on the rare occasion when mistakes are made, they issue timely retractions, something that Fox News never does.

OMG .. you actually believe that?

ATS Thread - MSNBC Mocks Ann Romneys Multiple Sclerosis Physical Therapy
ATS Thread - NBC Ignores Calls for Explaination in Wawa-gate tape (more selective editing on the part of NBC)
ATS Thread - NBC Caught Selectively Editing Zimmerman Tape in order to Fuel Racial Tensions
ATS Thread - NBC News Covers Up Andrea Mitchell's Misleading Romney Edit
ATS Thread - NBC Creatively Edits Bush Interview to Stir the Pot
ATS Thread - NBC's Homeland Security .. pure propaganda
ATS Thread - Obama's Attack Dogs (NBC, ABC) and their creative attacks against Wilson

And of course there is the left wing agenda -
ATS Thread - NBC's Snyderman: It's pro science to abort children with genetic defects

Covering up porn/beastiality -
ATS Thread - NBC and the banned Fear Factor episode

ETA ... all anyone has to do is watch 'Morning Joe' one morning and it becomes VERY clear that MSNBC is not a news source .. it's a far left propaganda machine. They put forth pro-left wing opinion and make idiots believe those opinions as fact. Mika is the worst.
