Go for it. And "all He ever does".. is a ridiculous hasty generalization and cherry-picked fallacy. God is Holy and Righteous, His anger is only kindled against rebellion and sin, or in other words, our issues.

This god you refer to needs anger management, seriously. He should be ashamed of himself. All he ever does is threaten violence.

Maybe rather than worship him, people should get a restraining order against him.

You are very accurately describing the anthropomorphised interpretation of the Hebrew's god.

Please now remove the human characteristics and tell me what you see.

So what do you do with the information that humans were made in Him image and likeness??

A very serious case of clutching at straws.

Are your lips full of wrath? Is your tongue a devouring fire? Are you jealous? Do you have rivers of fire coming out from before you? Can you kindle fires? Do you dwell in light unapproachable? Do you have smoke coming out of your nostrils and fire coming out of your mouth? Do you burn with anger? Do you make hissing noises that can be heard from a long way away? Can you make fire come from inside you and eat up 250 men with it? Can you make water evapourate? Do you consume you enemies like stubble? Do you look like a burning fire on the top of a mountain? Is it said to be a dreadful thing to fall into your hands?

Genesis was written after the events of Exodus occured. It's mostly common folklore and made up filler designed to give substance and meaning to the religion, which was started due to very humble means. The Hebrews were 'Habiru'.....people of differing backgrounds living on the fringe of society. The prelude was necessary in order to create a better image and encourage the continuation of the clan. If they knew their true background, would they be so keen to carry it on? It was also written to give the impression the Jews all decended from one man by stating the ancestry but, in fact, there is no ancestry. Probably many of the Hebrews were refugees fleeing the forthcoming Santorini eruption...and also slaves and vagabonds already in Egypt. The volcano gave plenty of notice of the biggie.

Here's a very simple test to see if you were made in your god's image.

Ready? Ok, let's begin. Go out into your garden and find a rocky or earthy area. Now bend down and reach for the floor with your bare hand. Now touch the earth.

Now let us know if the earth you touched melted.

Let's just pretend for a moment that God IS real and that He really did say those things.
Why would He let everyone go astray and then destroy them?
Why doesn't He come down and appear to everyone and explain exactly what He wants?

If my child is misbehaving, I don't just wallup the heck out of her.
I sit down with her and explain things. I make my presence and my authority known.
I don't just nail her out of no where and crush her.

If people are misbehaving then perhaps God should appear to everyone and explain
exactly what He wants. And I don't 'appear' as in that we have to go hunting and pecking
through all sorts of religions and different supposedly 'holy books' to try to find Him.
i mean .. BE OUT IN THE OPEN and actually get involved so that no one can question
that there is a God and no one can question what He wants.

Wouldn't that be the logical thing to do? As a parent ... I think so.

But I'm just a nobody human and God doesn't have to listen to what I think ....

I think the Mayan calendar follows sun cycles, and its no coincidence the Galactic Center sent a huge plume of energy out that was photo'd and its roughly the same Light years away that the Mayan calendar takes.

And if that is a cycle, and it just sent out another plume, we're due for something shortly, perhaps.

Volcano could errupt from this, but HAARP may be behind that, and even the ones they serve, off planet ones, because what if that energy is like standing in a CME, which for me was wonderful. So bible, mayans, galactic center, energy plume, sun!

You are as religious as Jews and Muslims but you don't realise it.

The Mayans also worshipped volcanoes, hence the correlation with 'prophecy', which is not prophecy but frightening warnings used to keep the sheeple indoctrinated, and it's so successful it carries on working for thousands of years despite nothing happening! Oh my volcano!

Actually very spiritual and remember where I'm from and the past quite a bit. And what Im doing here.

The Mayan calendar is something that coincides with a real science observation.

This:

www.viewzone.com...

Its with scientific interest I note the years from galactic center and the length of time of the cycle, for ancient history is exactly that HiSTORY and very important to pay attention to.

That you're not to me is lacking science.

Completely over looking all my comment.

Your verse is a metaphor. It explains how your volcano god protects you. You stay close by the mountain of fire and you do the right thing and everything will be ok. It's a comforter that a lot of people need in their lives and, despite it being completely made up, it has a placebo effect and makes people feel safer.

My descriptions contain half metaphors and facts. For example, smoke coming out of the nostrils is a half metaphor as the smoke was real but the nostrils were not....they were the result of the anthropomorphised volcano's vents. Your god appearing as a fire on top of a mountain is a fact of sorts because although there was no god there was a fire on the top of a mountain.

So, can you please now respond to my description of your god? Does it resemble you? Can you explain 'in his image'?

Perhaps you don't understand completely, after all you seem to be relatively new. You do not have the authority to control what is posted in this thread, you may claim it, or think you have it, but you do not.

What you seem to be attempting is the control and restriction of speech here. I don't like it, and I suspect nearly all of the members would object.

As I say, it may be that you simply misunderstand our principles, but please correct your misunderstanding.

I'm a very busy person and am not here to either socialise or spend hours, days, years and a lifetime reading all the waffle I know can spew out of the faithfuls' mouths like lava out of a volcano. It is extremely hard to make them think in a way that goes against their programming. I should know....I used to be programmed too. This thread was strictly guided because it needed to be in order to get a result, which I believe I got, thanks to asking people to stick to the theme and answer the simple question. Is this forum for people are are too precious to answer a question, as you have failed to do despite feeling the need to tell me off? Many people now know something they did not know before and hopefull they will do what I did when I worked it out......look into it even more and tell others about it.

Given this thread discusses the greatest conspiracy ever to occur in documented times, I find it very telling that it has been moved to 'off topic' without even a mention on the original board alerting people to its new location. Silencing tactic? This thread has nothing to do with spirituality and I am not here to discuss my spiritual experiences. This thread is about a conspiracy. I am making a request for it to be returned to its correct location.

Anyway, do you mind telling me what you see in the verses.....or is that terrible of me to ask?

I'm not sure what you're saying here. Are you answering the OP's question with a review of personal disapproval of the way this supposed god acts out in thunderous and fiery wrath?

I believe the OP is trying to conjure within us an idea of from what this image of "god" maybe derived. He is proposing that the god mentioned in the cited scripture is a volcano god.

We really aren't debating if god exists or if god is moral, but how this personality of a vengeful and wrathful god of quaking earth and fiery rain may or may not be, in reality the remnants of volcano god worship.

Charles,

Perhaps you feel the OP is being curt and rude, by asking that comments remain "on topic" and being new, he should be more tolerant. However, within this thread, I have seen long time members behave rudely, condescendingly and add mocking comments regarding the OP personally, and the OP's theory.

You're correct that it's a moderators job to do the moderating, not the OP. Nor is it the job of a member, with no intention of addressing the content of the OP, to post a scolding and then demand that the OP change his/her "understanding."

I have seen many a thread intentionally derailed by those who ramble on about off topic drivel, in order to deflect the objectional subject. That's not what you're trying to do here, is it? Surely you aren't trying to intimidate and school the OP in ATS etiquette?

On topic, are you, as a Christian, aligned with this personality of a fire and smoke breathing, burning rock throwing and earth shaking, wrathful god? Do you think that some of this imagery could have a foundation in the volcanic activity in the area of where these stories emerged?

Do you think that this is the same god that Jesus called father?
