As long as there is good supervision ... it's an excellent idea!
It'll be expensive however. Going to the range here costs a bunch.

One thing about Texans is that they are VERY RESPONSIBLE and SAFE when it comes to firearms. I'd rather be around a child in Texas with a firearm than an adult with a firearm from the gun-hating states.

Texans enjoy their firearms and their Second Amendment rights.

Good for them.

I started shooting when I was 10. We used .22c rifles, we had extensive safety training before even being handed a gun, and just to drive the point home even had "this watermelon is your head. This is what happens when a .45 blows it to bits" demonstration.

No one ever got shot or harmed in any way. In fact, the only injury I've ever had shooting was with a bow! lol

Teaching young children the dangers of firearms while also showing them how to use them effectively and safely is the right thing to do.

YOU might think the Government holding your kids hand is enough, but I assure you I learned far more at a shooting range with a few ex marines ready to pounce on us if we did anything stupid. (when I say "we" I'm referring to Scouts, we used to go shooting all the time as a group aged 10 and up, many of us owning our own guns)

Ive been to Chuck E Cheese... no freaking way would I be okay with a range that allowed parties for kids. Im not joking. Let me tell you, it wasnt the kids so much as the parents that were the real problem, as it will be at the range.

Ive been shooting my whole life and my kids have and it was never kept a big scary secret that we had guns in the house. No forbidden fruit. Im a concealed carry cheerleader and all of that.. and I STILL wouldnt say okay to a party at the range. Im telling you.. go to Chuck E Cheese and youll see why.

Texas has some of the nations lowest crime.

Nothing like your community police saying..if you see something suspicious on your street.. Arm yourself and investigate. Also teach your kids proper use..they might be the ones saving you one day.

Awesome!!! Even though your post kind of makes you sound anti-Texas and anti-Guns I wont hold that against you. At least I know my children will be able to defend themselves from Canadian porn killers.

hi Dave.....I'm in texas....in 1967, the 7-11 stores everywhere had 22 bulletts behind the counter and stacks of shotgun shells 5 feet high all over the store. yep, high school had shooting ranges.....and we walked to and from hunting carry'ng the guns through the city outskirts

Ya know what gets me? The HYSTERICS who (ignorantly) believe it's sooo so wrong to instruct a youngster in responsible gun handling - but at the drop of the (ignorant) hat will give their kids water pistols, cap guns and 'fake' weapons.

Birthday parties at a gun range? GREAT idea! Teach RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY at the same time as having fun and practicing an AMERICAN RIGHT!

My daughter was shooting a single shot .22 when she was 6. From there she graduated up through the ranks of rifles into handguns. She was NEVER allowed a handgun or rifle of any kind that was a 'toy'. For shame that!

A gun is a tool, just like a stove, or a car. They all can maim or kill without given proper respect and training.

Get some perspective people.

It's only an issue when you hide guns and tell kids that they're evil and all this stuff. It's funny that we so much want to teach kids about sex, drugs, and other things, but we want to hide weapons from them and pretend weapons don't exist.

Just like anything else, the safest way to be is to give them a good education as early as possible. And that's the point. Once they see things up close and personal like that, it not only gives them a respect for the power, but it also demystifies the gun so that they don't have the temptation of curiosity.

good education yes...handling loaded guns no...by their very nature, children are impulsive and immature, in other words, their wiring is different from an adult. just the act of little bobby smacking little billy for taking his toy, shows this.

yeah, texas also enjoys drive-thru liquor stores. that doesn't make it a good thing. and the HIGHEST accidental shootings happen in the "gun loving" states according to...you know...facts...

Care to explain how us country folks survived then? We grew up with guns, most had our own by the time we were 13. Not a single shooting where I come from. Then again most of us also learned to drive before 16 as well. Are us country folks just special or something? Or maybe we were just raised right.
