Cheers, good link.

The main problem now is that these people still have homes in Spain which they can't sell. They've still got Spanish bank accounts (which they need if the house does sell), they've retained solicitors, the homes are insured etc etc etc

Because these people can't prove that they've cut all their ties with Spain, the DWP are failing them on the HRT and as a result no benefits are paid to these British people.

Only because they are declaring overseas properties.

IMO, the elite get away with billions of taxes for having bank accounts/properties outside of the UK, so why the heck should the average joe declare what they've got elsewhere..

It costs too much to go chasing the facts and details about every single person as to what they own abroad if they're coming back to UK to live.. Imagine the job centre asking Spain if a certain person owns a house.. Spain would want to be paid for the work of finding out those details, could take months..

Same as if you had debts here and 'dissapeared' for a while abroad.. costs too much to find you for the average debt collecting agency.. They rely on you being in the UK.
