Bee Gees' singer Robin Gibb dies after cancer battle.

www.bbc.co.uk

Bee Gees' singer Robin Gibb has died following a lengthy battle with cancer, his family have said.

British-born Gibb, 62, had been battling colon and liver cancer.

Gibb's musical career began when he formed the Bee Gees with his brothers Barry and Maurice in 1958.

The group is among the biggest-selling groups of all time with hits spanning six decades including Stayin' Alive, How Deep Is Your Love, Massachusetts and Night Fever.

Very sad news indeed.

A wonderful artist, great musician, fantastic singing voice, gone.

I have been dreading this since it was announced a couple of weeks back he had contracted pneumonia.

RIP Robin, you will be sorely missed.

Robin Hugh Gibb, CBE (22 December 1949 - 20 May 2012) was a singer and songwriter. He is best known as a member of the Bee Gees, co-founded with his twin brother Maurice and elder brother Barry.

Born in the Isle of Man to English parents, the family later moved to Manchester before settling in Brisbane, Australia. Gibb began his career as part of the family trio and when the group found major success they returned to the United Kingdom. With record sales estimated in excess of 200 million units, the Bee Gees became one of the most successful pop groups of all time. He died after a lengthy battle with cancer on Sunday 20th May 2012.[1]

Sorry to ruin your pop culture parade, but I fail to see what is 'alternative' or 'under reported' or 'conspiratorial' about this news of a popular music singer dying.

But... it looks like he's no longer staying alive! huh? Huh?

Yeah, I grew up listening to them and Queen, I was gutted when Freddie died in 91, it's always a shame to lose your idols from youth.

Because it is breaking news, and sorry to burst your bubble, but ATS isn't just about conspiracies.

I posted this so any Beegees fans on ATS who might not be aware of his passing can be informed.

If you don't like or agree with a thread, refrain from posting and showing what an uncaring jackass you are.

It is in Off Topic: People so it does not have to be any of the above. Normally I do not have a problem with your comments in threads but I really take exception to the attitude you are displaying here.

This was one of the icons of pop music and a much respected singer and musician. Please refrain from further belittling the memory of a member of a group that some of us grew up listening to. Thank you.

No, he was suffering from pneumonia, and it was touch and go, but he pulled through. That makes this news even more of a blow.
