The Punch doesnt ban mambers. It simply asks them to resubmit the post in a more civilised lower case. Thats all.

Seems like a good idea to me.

I do it sometimes myself when people read what they want instead of actually reading the comment they are replying to.
I don't see any problem as long as it is used in moderation.
I am more annoyed by threads titles that always are in full capitals and is misleading like for example: "THIS BLAH BLAH PROVES UFOS EXISTS!!!!!!!!"
And then when you click it you discover it is just a bird or a Chinese lantern.

Full caps are a way of making a point, of showing an emotional response. We do it when we speak. WE raise our voice. You try speaking in a monotone and see how many people fall asleep.

I think the mods handle it pretty well now as it is.

If you feel it's your place to complain about my style, then I feel I can now complain about your horrible spelling skills.

It's EASY to read all caps but it's HARD to read something written by someone with no grasp of the written English language. You often fail to use apostrophes when you write possessive nouns, and you use them seemingly EVERY TIME when you write a plural noun.

Don't tell me "maybe we're more civilized down here in Australia." If that were the case, you guys would all know how to spell. Not sure why you have to try and make it a hateful conversation, but to me this is MUCH MORE disrespectful than someone using caps for emphasis. Why the hypocrisy?

Obviously it won’t apply to acronyms or initials. We wouldn’t want to stifle any discussion of APEC or NATO, or prevent a reader from bolstering their argument with a quote from AJP Taylor, JM Coetzee or MC Hammer.

They already do crackdown on it. (ATS T&C regarding ALL CAPS)

Caps highlighting certain words is different, and there is a limited number of users that do it... Haven't really noticed to be honest.

Misleading threads and titles often end up here. but if they aren't a hoax but remain just a misleading title, they will get their title change just as a Mod did here.

I think you should consider yourself blessed if this is on your mind and considered an annoyance. Personally the intentional misspelling of words is a greater peril to our society than choosing to type in capitals. Whatever you interpret from someone writing in capitals is literally IN YOUR HEAD and trivial. i.e. they could have just pressed caps lock.

So my answer is absolutely not. Instead my question to you is should ATS crack down on pointless threads?
