Groups representing publishers and authors have sued the federal government, saying it is blocking the works of authors in countries such as Cuba, Iran and Sudan from reaching the United States.

In the lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, the groups asked a federal judge to remove government restrictions that allegedly block the free exchange of information and ideas. Otherwise, it said, "Americans who want information from Cuba, Iran and Sudan are limited to reading what has already been written in those countries."

Just another small freedom removed from general American public.

Iran and Cuba and Sudan's governments have a special relationship with America different then the other 189 nations. It is a not a good special either.

So? There are embargos on cuba and iran. Who cares if some opinion books from iran don't get to get sold in the US?

More worrying, however, is that scientific research from iran is being blocked. Science is supposed to be transnational and universal. And I'm not talking about nuclear bomb making type science, I mean regular old science.
