Source

Why am I only now hearing about this? Maybe it's because of all of the distractions taking place.

At least the source says there is a Bill that could be passed to stop this from happening and so far the House has passed it.

If it doesn’t pass the outcome will devastate the country. Student loan debt is already at an all time high and there is now more student loan debt than credit card debt.

Just two years ago the Government bought up all most all of the student loans. If they were to let the rates double they would severely hurt a large number of American Citizens.

Quite invasive that one can acquire a loan, after which that loan can be sold to another company (the state in this case) and the terms and conditions can be altered at will, not benificiairy to one parttaker. Is this just the mere result of not having read the T&C?

Better pay those loans folks, or the gov't might SWAT you...

I have a few friends that have had their cars confiscated because of back due student loan payments. Some of them are on their 4th used car and have to keep hiding them in garages or at friend's houses.

Something has to give soon or most of us will be spending some time making kevlar for the military at 12 cents/hour in private prisons.

The MSM is not telling you that only NEW student loan interest rates will double. Its an easy trick of words to get the youth fired up and voting for Obama, the saver of student loan rates. haha

I've got a big wake up call for the government: their policies have resulted in a generation who, quite literally, can't afford to pay the loans they took on.

Sure they can garnish your wages, but when you can't afford to live because of it and lose your job, they're not going to get anything but millions of homeless young Americans. A good bit of these kids have moved back home with mom and dad (who are barely above water themselves these days).

It's one good bump and the folks who are just getting by are going to fall off into oblivion, and we're gonna have billions upon billions of kids not paying those student loans. Why? Because they can't keep a roof over their heads, let alone pay that loan debt.

it would be of value to compare what universities have international satellite campuses and at what cost do the people fitting the demographic are paying for those.

really which demographic is really paying tuition?

I don't mean to state a race issue but is it not an issue of he who fits the demographic of success pays and he who fits a demographic of color does not pay.
