Spain's sickly economy faces a "crisis of huge proportions", a minister said on Friday, as unemployment hit its highest level in two decades and Standard and Poor's weighed in with a two-notch downgrade of the government's debt.

Spain's unemployment rate shot up to 24 percent in the first quarter, the highest level since the early 1990s and one of the worst jobless figures in the world. Retail sales slumped for the twenty-first consecutive month.

Romania's opposition torpedoed the centre-right cabinet in a confidence vote on Friday, raising the prospect of months of political turmoil and questions over a belt-tightening campaign that has caused a wave of protests against IMF-backed reforms.

Dude... what can anyone say? We all see it. We all know what's coming. There's no surprise here and no major revelation. TPTB are in a 2-minute stalling drill and that's all they've got. Everyone should be focused on getting their own lifeboats in order and hope for the best.

To quote what Christine Lagarde said this week “light recovery blowing in a spring wind” with “dark clouds on the horizon,”

They are spelling it out in plain text, the dung is only beginning to fly, we aint seen nothing yet

Say about what? That the impending implosion of the EU monetary zone is happening as has been predicted for years? It is like we have been watching a slow train wreck for a couple hours and you just saw it and are flabbergasted that we aren't all surprised by it.

It is happening. We are all paying attention to it. I appreciate your making a thread on it. Things are going to suck.

I wonder if we'll make it until this Fall. I wonder if it will hit here suddenly like a sledge hammer, or if it'll just be slow resource draining and bottomless down turn.

This is a good video by Tony Robbins that helps put in perspective how these Gov't can and will fall because of this ever increasing debt. He creates great visuals by showing the viewer how massive a trillion is by converting $$ to time. For example, ie, 1 million seconds = 12 days, 1 billion seconds = 32 years, 1 trillion seconds = 31,688 years.

Watch Tony Robbins discuss the $15 trillion U.S. national debt -- how big is it really? And what can we do about the enormous federal budget deficit?
