Secret Service Agents Sent Home From Presidential Trip for Alleged Misconduct

abcnews.go.com

U.S. Secret Service agents were sent home from President Obama’s trip to Colombia because of allegations of misconduct, apparently involving prostitution.

While the Secret Service would not confirm the number of agents involved, the allegations make this an acutely embarrassing incident for the elite security around a president.

I haven't seen this posted yet, and I've searched with different title variations. If there is already a post on this, I apologize.

OK, I admit, I laughed pretty good when I read this. I almost expected the article to say they were also partaking in the stuff Columbia's famous for. It wouldn't surprise me, to be honest, the whole damn government is crooked as crap as it is, why would the Secret Service be above that?

Oh, COME ON, guys. You get training on this. It's one of the first things you're drilled on. Sexual advances for the purpose of pumping you for info or getting you out of position are Tradecraft 101. GEEZ.

You beat me to it.
Anyway, I wonder if the whole prostitute thing isn't just a cover story. Feels like something fishy is going on.

Being a conspiracy site, Do you think this might be Obama's "Clinton moment"?

Maybe the secret service was purchasing for someone else........?

Yeah,I know. Pure conjecture, but you never know......

You know, I wondered that. If not for him, one of his advisers...?
(Speaking of Clinton, Bill's not down there is he?
)
If this turns out to be true, or if they were perhaps indeed partaking in substances, I don't think it reflects too well at all on the top-tier government work ethic. I was half-joking when I asked why the Secret Service would be above corruption, but this does make me wonder about their integrity.

I have a really adult and semi funny joke that I could put in here, but I definitely would get the ban hammer for it

I will just leave it as not surprised in the action, just surprised they got caught.

I have a thread about the Summit of the Americas going on there in Cartagena in general but you beat me to the bad-boy SS team being sent home - which I only have a later posting mentioning the incident. Nice catch.

Isn't this the kind of thing going on with Kennedy's Secret Service team that night before in Dallas? Perhaps a tragedy narrowly averted for Obama?? Bombs going off in the country at that time too:

www.news.com.au...

News of the alleged misconduct emerged as two small bombs exploded in Cartagena this morning. No injuries were reported from the explosions, which occurred around 8pm Friday local time, newspaper El Tiempo reported.

Two small bombs also exploded in the country's capital, Bogota, this morning -- near the US Embassy and the country's high court and attorney general's office. No one was injured.

Even if there is more to it, the fact it happened outside the US, I highly doubt much would be heard about it, unless the mess up was a bit of a diplomatic faux pas.

The Secret Service is similar to all of the other alphabet agencies i.e.
like the Bloodguard, their oath has been corrupted.
Unlike the Bloodguard, they don't care.

Just imagine the kind of lies they tell themselves so that they
can sleep at night....

Blasted human frailties! Now what I want to know is if this Secret Service team was on duty or off duty? Their shift could have changed, and if they want to take in the sights of Cartagena, Columbia? What is the fault in that. The crust of the matter is not so much of soliciting the services of a prostitute, but if they were doing so while on the clock. If the latter is what happened? Then, the President and his entourage could have experienced a major vulnerability to their security blanket.

That is what I want to know. Not so much about the hookers and beer side, but if they were participating in that behavior while on duty. That is a very serious problem! My guess is this will be the last any of us will hear of this, because those investigating the matter are going to do their best to minimize the potential fallout to the Secret Service's lofty reputation. They are considered the best of the best at what they do. Dereliction of duty is a grave offense, and people can get killed for it. What makes it even more mind-boggling is the allegation of the Secret Service being involved in such conduct. Very interesting.

What an honour , respectable , powerful position to be in secret service , working next to the "most powerful man " , Then to see conduct like this .What a disgrace.

You think they would set the highest standards , and be a role model for all other agencies . For discipline , Security , and their image. But then you still have clowns who wanna clown around and , make it look like a joke.

If you can't control your self , if you are weak to human desires , their are plenty of other positions. The secret service work pretty hard , at what they do , this is just a spit in the face of the agency . Such a shame. Would love to be in that position , Nothing wrong with hookers , just do it when its your off duty time.

They should atleast have a discreate elite escort service espically for secret service and high level staff. Paid by their own money of course , not tax payer.

These people are representatives of our country. While on assignment, they are never "off duty". This is an embarrassment that representatives of my country would behave in such a manner that their superiors would feel it was necessary to actually send them home from assignment. Their superiors knew very well that it would look bad on them to send these people home, for them to do so it must have been really bad.

I really don't think we know the whole story here.

Really? You think that it's silly to expect that the people guarding the President of the United States are not just a little mentally, physically and emotionally more disciplined than most people?
