Saw this today:

(RT) President Mikhail Saakashvili is getting ready for a war with Russia, says Georgi Gugava, political secretary of the Georgian opposition Labor Party.

“The gang that is holding power is ready to continue the [August] 2008 provocation, as a result of which we lost territories and hundreds of people were killed,” Gugava told a Georgian newspaper, cites Vzglyad daily.

The opposition politician noted that there has been an increase of “military rhetoric” and “advertising of reserve and new military hardware” on Georgian state-controlled TV channels.

“Saakashvili is preparing for a war!” Gugava believes. He says the president is planning to “launch a provocation” in order to “involve the Russian Army” in a conflict.

rt.com...

This sounds quite serious. If Russia is drawn into a war with Georgia, then how would this affect stability in other parts of the world?

It wont , they had no problem going in and beating Georgia down the first time with no worldwide implications. What is different this time around?

If true, it seems Saakashvili is overplaying his hand and believes he is stronger than he is or others will come to his aid when they likely won't.. Its the opposition party making claims though, so they're going to do anything to try and discredit him, so has to be taken with a pinch of salt

What? His tie?

What's disturbing to me is that 'some' in the west support this clown of a leader by supplying him with firepower. That Russia would respond is a no-brainer and what this world really needs right now is another war in the Caucasus.

As if August 2008 wasn't bad enough.
