Thank you OP for sharing this story.

Personally I find all stories of UFO's and strange moving lights compelling to read, even the ones that are obvious hoaxes. But reports before Sci-Fi and UFO/ alien encounters became popularised through the media are especially intruiging,.

The dating of this encounter is perfect as well. It's old enough for it to have happened before Sci-Fi and the coldwar but recent enough that exact details of the sighting aren't lost to history.
