IMO Obama is a far better option than what the GOP is putting out there....their policies are criminal. Nothing but a transfer of wealth from the middle class and poor to the very rich.

Isnt that the truth!!!!

Thats the NUMBER ONE priority of the GOP. The transfer of wealth from the ALREADY HUGELY overburdened average American, to give it to the wealthy. Everything that the GOP does and speaks shows this CLEARLY.

WHY would any average American vote for those middle-class destroying traitors??

another thing i would do is eliminate the way Bills are put through congress and the senate. eliminating bill with more than one agenda. if you want a bill for military spending then that's all that should be on the bill, not 15 other items to argue and black mail over.

Guess it isn't just Obama's $5T.

It has been the GOP led Congress unwillingness to raise taxes on the incredibly wealthy that has stopped progress on the issue. Democrats have agreed to all kinds of tax cuts and program/spending cuts...not once could they ever get the GOP house to sign along to anything.

They want the entire burden to fall on those who can least afford it.

The 111th Congress (2009/2010) was Democrat controlled.

They had control of ALL committees.

Why did they not help us ?

Why does the UsA not just tax imports 500% ????

No more imports = jobs created at home, and business comes back?

I probably don't understand all the mechanics in this but if they did it over time slowly, could this not change the debt into profit?

Corporations won't allow it and have bought off too many politicians. We also have the problem of both parties passing free trade....and i think that is part of the reason why Democrats won't sign on to doing it either...although some of them are bought and payed for as well.

A tax on imports is a tax they simply can't avoid. I don't think we should tax all imports though...only imports that are made with slave labor.

Help how? They did pass a stimulus package...which by the way was 1/3 tax cut for damn near everyone....along with a spending infusion to stop the bleeding.

And despite everyone stating that Democrats had full control....they did...barely....but it also required Blue Dog Dems to stand in unison with the rest of the party...which was no easy task......remember Ben Nelson?

If they did not all vote the same...Republicans filibustered nearly every single time unless it was military spending.

Yes but lets just say hypothetically that the people demanded it in the millions! What would the "real" implications be of implementing this?

If it's just corporate greed holding back the creation of jobs......or is it something else?

Prices would go up on all electronics, clothing, and toys. The reason for implementing a tariff is to make us competitive with slave labor. We have to make it at least equally profitable to create products here instead of elsewhere.

Unfortunately, no one is advocating that for the most part right now. Their answer is to cut taxes and regulations even further here to entice more jobs....but the price for doing that is destroying our standard of living....not to mention...we could cut taxes to zero...we still can't compete with slave labor.

It's simple.

The international American corporations make the profit at our expense.

And by avoiding taxes they should have been paying...they increase our nations debt load....and then tell us the only way to stop it is destroy medicare or other social programs that help the poor and elderly.

Paul Ryan's recent plan is the most heinous piece of garbage I have ever seen. TRILLIONS in tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations...and they offset it with tax hikes for the poor and massive cuts to social programs including Social Security, and the ending of Medicare as we know it. And it still runs huge deficits.

All 4 GOP candidates have signed on to Paul Ryans initial economic plan....i cannot and will not ever vote for any of them...period.

He inherited a trillion a year deficit when he walked into office....during economic collapse.

What should he have done eh?

CUT ALL SPENDING AND SOCIAL PROGRAMS while the economy spun out of control?

He chose to create a $1.8 trillion and growing black hole of uncertainty called Obamacare. Those programs you mentioned will certainly see cuts in order to pay for everything else. Just like his half a million troop slash to the military. You know that money saved won't land in our pockets.

Don't blame Bush. The deficit was $455 billion (created by a democratic congress) when he took office and he ran with it. The buck stopped at Obama's desk and with his signature to authorize ongoing deficit spending. Funny how he also never held Congress to the fire in regards to ever passing a budget either.

Don't forget what sly boots Pelosi and Reid pulled either. In FY 2009 the dynamic duo bypassed Bush by using continuing resolutions and the Omnibus Spending Bill, signed by Obama, creating a $1.4 trillion deficit. Move on to fy2010 with another $1.3 trillion and onto FY2011 with another $1.5 Trillion etc etc.

I guess you could say that Obama inherited the Democrat's spending habit and continued with it.

Every one of you (wags a finger) can talk in circles, but Obama is following a plan.

Cloward-Piven.

Stress the system until it collapses.

Then truck in "mother" government to take care of everyones boo-boos

Here is a little background on the Coward Cloward-Piven scheme.

The Cloward–Piven strategy is a political strategy outlined in 1966 by American sociologists and political activists Richard Cloward (1926–2001) and Frances Fox Piven (b. 1932) that called for overloading the U.S. public welfare system in order to precipitate a crisis that would lead to a replacement of the welfare system with a national system of "a guaranteed annual income and thus an end to poverty". Cloward and Piven were a married couple who were both professors at the Columbia University School of Social Work. The strategy was formulated in a May 1966 article in left-wing[1] magazine The Nation titled "The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to End Poverty".[2]

The two were critical of the public welfare system, and their strategy called for overloading that system to force a different set of policies to address poverty. They stated that many Americans who were eligible for welfare were not receiving benefits, and that a welfare enrollment drive would strain local budgets, precipitating a crisis at the state and local levels that would be a wake-up call for the federal government, particularly the Democratic Party, thus forcing it to implement a national solution to poverty. Cloward and Piven wrote that “the ultimate objective of this strategy [would be] to wipe out poverty by establishing a guaranteed annual income...”[2] There would also be side consequences of this strategy, according to Cloward and Piven. These would include: easing the plight of the poor in the short-term (through their participation in the welfare system); shoring up support for the national Democratic Party then-splintered by pluralist interests (through its cultivation of poor and minority constituencies by implementing a national solution to poverty); and relieving local governments of the financially and politically onerous burdens of public welfare (through a national solution to poverty)......
wikipedia

Combine class warfare, demonizing the rich, getting as many people onto the welfare rolls as possible, and pushing the economic system to collapse and you have a flawless formula for Cloward-Piven 2.0 -- and a vehicle that ensures Obama remains in power.

Cloward-Piven is a much talked-about strategy proposed in the mid-1960's by two Columbia University sociology professors named Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven. The Cloward-Piven approach was sometimes referred to as the "crisis strategy," which they believed were a means to "end poverty."...........

Look at his latest Executive Order.

We are seeing Cloward-Piven in action!

That is the conservative plan. that is the genius of have you robots
repeat it over and over.

Obama and Govmint lovers would not benefit from having government
look inept and pointless. But people who advocate NO government or
private rule certainly would benefit from collapse because they would
offer up a solution to the thing that has failed, government.
