Hello ATS; Long time lurker, finally had something I wanted to discuss, however, I can't until I comment 20 times. Thems the rules...

Anyway, I've been a conspiracy nut my whole life, used to be a regular listener to Chuck Harder, Alex Jones, Coast-to-Coast, Texe Marrs and various local radio shows. The internet has really helped me stay on top of stuff. I found ATS and have been following the forums here for years.

I’m really a skeptic, but I want to believe (to steal from X-Files). I don’t doubt the existence of aliens just doubt they’ve visited Earth due to our remote location. Which brings me to the point; on the Science Channel the other day an Astro-Biologist (whose job it is to speculate on the biology of alien life forms) was describing what an alien would look like from a low gravity planet. Tall, long, thin limbs, fragile looking; I thought, “Wow! That is a description of a grey alien.” So maybe there is something to alien encounters after all. How would an average person know to invent an alien like that?

If this has been discussed on ATS somewhere, I’d love a link.
Thanks…

Welcome,
So how would an alien look like if it lived in a cave? Perhaps hairy, filthy, unhealthy, big looking, fat?
You can't tell me how an alien is going to look by taking the human body and putting the effects of low gravity in effect on it and present an example of how it would look and call it an alien.

Who says an alien would even look close to a human? Maybe they're shaped like balls? Cubes? Is that even possible? Are you admitting that the human body is perfect?

Wecome to ATS. I'm fairly new here too but I've enjoyed my time thus far. I've found that there is a lot of bickering between skeptics and believers and people call you out for the silliest things like missing punctuation and stuff but that's par for the course on the internet. I visit ATS daily and it's my major source for alternative news and links. Enjoy your time here. Cheers.

We can speculate what a humanoid type being would evolve to look like on different planet types but that's no indication that they actually exist.

If you think about it, any "alien" concept you could draw we could speculate on what type of planet it would come from, and what conditions on that planet would be. I think anything you could imagine we could find a heavenly body with conditions that we can speculate would result in this hypothetical humanoid.

So it goes both ways and cannot be used as any type of proof or evidence.

I think HG Wells was the first person to describe "greys" (although he didn't use this term) in a couple books in the 1800's and 1900s.. I think his version of what an alien might look like caught on and has become the "grey" we know today. You might want to fact check this, I would but I'm lazy.. But I'm fairly certain it's right.

Welcome to ATS!

Congratulations, you've joined the world's largest and civil alternative topics discussion community! There is a sound reason why we make new members make a minimum of 20 reply posts before they can start a thread. We understand that with rules, policies and just the shear size of the website, it can be quite overwhelming. So we've created a presentation tour with just you in mind.

Welcome KWEvans69

For now you can reply to any thread in any forum you wish. Once you have achieved the minimum of 20 post replies, you will be able to create your own threads in their appropriate areas & additionally be able to send and receive messages to fellow ATS members. Private Messages can be sent to Staff only, (but after the 20 post minimum, you'll have full access).

Be sure to try out our Ask ATS with the "search words" of your choice. I'm sure you will find many threads to pick from to add your thoughts and opinions too. We encourage everyone to please contribute to existing threads rather than start a new one. This will also help guarantee that your thread won't end up as a duplicate located elsewhere. AboveTopSecret is much like a theme park with many, many rides, with that said...
Here's a few thoughts before getting onto any one of the 1000's of topical rides at Above Top Secret, also known as ATS, the world's largest Civil & Unique Discussion Community.

*** Please be at least this tall to get on any of the rides, (Johnny stretches his arm outward), and act like an 'civil' adult. This will save you a lot of future stress, frustration and possible action by one of your friendly neighborhood Mods!

*** Please remember that some members are very passionate and vocal depending on what ride your on. Before getting on a ride, you should be mentally fit, emotionally stable and have a strong stomach for theories, conjecture, research and evidence presented that may be contrary to your own.

*** Please be "open-minded" enough to understand that sometimes the ride isn't always what you might think or expect. At times, you may learn something new and 'out-of-the-box' before you get off the ride, this is a natural and normal phenomena.

*** Please note that at times the ride gets overly-heated and "it's strongly suggested" to get off the ride to regroup one's thoughts before continuing. This will also help guarantee that the ride will move forward without getting derailed or explode into a fiery trashbin.

*** Please have fun! Be aware if you act in an uncivil-like manner, use profanity, intentionally spread a hoax and/or get verbally abusive, you will be removed off the ride by a Moderator. This is for your safety, & also for those both young and old on the ride with you.

So buckle up, keep your arms within the ride's comfort zone, have fun and "Deny Ignorance"...!

I'll have to check into that. I know the he described the Martians in War of the Worlds as octopus like and they had trouble moving in Earth's gravity at a time when it was novel to think Martian gravity was different than Earth’s, if I remember correctly.
