pay attention to this closely because it tells us how their equipment works. They open (CONDUITS) and they make (BELL SOUND). This could mean that the strange sounds could be emitted through conduits.

Except the strange noises as far as I'm aware have been Trumpet-like, or Rumblings and low frequency Screeching.

I certainly haven't heard of any Bell sounds.
