Ok, This one is not from something I have read...other than in that it adds on to FOIA mkultra history. However, I spent 12 years in the military, and while not a frontline soldier myself, I have friends that are. Interesting to me, are many things I never hear about outside of these people. I have had conversations with several who were snipers, forward observers, etc. Several times now I have heard independent mention from them of being given amphetamines by their superiors so that they could continue for days without having time to sleep.

As I began to cross check this with other soldiers, I came across even more surprising info. Soldiers have told me of being given series of drugs, with a standard of 30 day trials, that they were mandated to use daily, and to report what their subjective effects were. Described to me were powerful hallucinogens that had one friend seeing demons, and going into schizophrenic states. These were going on while they were in foxholes in the front, and seemed to be distributed to their partners as well.

This is pretty interesting, and bizarre to me, as the last place I would want to be on hallucinogens would be in an unstable and uncontrolled environment.....with a gun in my hand....next to another person in the same situation. This would seem to be a strong additive to the fact that we have the highest rates of friendly fire, and that so many come back so emotionally scared and traumatized.

I know they regularly tried to test out and force upon us many unapproved vaccines and such which later turned out dangerous. I am wondering why we dont hear more about this today...as if all the things we did in such a pattern were far in the past. Can anyone else share their experiences with this? And what do you think of this?

I've got a feeling that soldiers have been using some type drug since the invention of warfare.

The original assassins used hashish... African soldiers have that plant khat they chew on...vietnam with it's heavy opiate use....both world wars...the Napoleonic wars. The list goes on.

Where men fight, men get buzzed.

I spent 24 years in the Army - 17 in Special Forces.

While assigned to ranger bat - we had no access to any drugs other than nicotine and canine (ETA: I mean cafine - lol) . The same was true while assigned to ranger regimental recon as a sniper.

However, later we had access to modafinilbrand name provigil for use on a short term basis as needed.

"...modafinil ('Provigil', 'Alertec', 'Vigicer', 'Modalert', etc) is a memory-improving and mood-brightening psychostimulant. It enhances wakefulness, attention capacity and vigilance, but its pharmacological profile is notably different from the amphetamines, methylphenidate (Ritalin) or coc aine. Modafinil is less likely to cause jitteriness, anxiety, or excess locomotor activity - or lead to a hypersomnolent 'rebound effect' - than traditional stimulants. Subjectively, it feels smoother and cleaner than the amphetamines too. It may even be anxiolytic. The normal elimination half-life of modafinil in humans is between 12 - 15 hours. So it's worth fine-tuning one's dosage schedule accordingly.

The only thing that was questionable to me was the anthrax vaccine in the 1st Gulf War.

Some GI's were coerced by unlawful order to take it; however, in SF we just signed a declination statement with the medic and avoided it. Some lower enlisted guys in infantry and such didn't know their rights I think.

We were also ordered to take the nerve agent antidote pills prior to the start of actual Desert Storm - I took one dose and my resting heart rate was 130 so I never took another.

Again though - our chain of command was less rigid but some kids (esp in say 82nd and 101st, 1st Armor) were made to take the pills for several days with visual inspection by NCOs.

I don't think that in SF you will find a lot of unwilling or willing guinea pigs....

Our first Canadian deaths in Afghanistan happened as friendly US air force fire. The official inquiry revealed the pilots were given some serious drugs.

But perhaps the most damaging revelation is that the Air Force gave the pilots Dexedrine, the stimulant dexamphetamine, allegedly as part of a “fatigue management” program for their long flights from Kuwait to Afghanistan and back. There were also “no-go pills,” usually the depressant Ambien, to help them sleep. The investigative report said the pills were “not a factor,’ ’but experts have questioned that conclusion.

According to Harvard University neurology professor Clifford Saper, the drug “may make a pilot misjudge his abilities or a situation.” The military maintains that the pills help keep pilots alert, but amphetamines are not approved by the US Food and Drug Administration to combat fatigue and are listed by the Drug Enforcement Administration as a Schedule Two Narcotic, in the same category as Cocaine.

Amphetamines are known on the street as “uppers” or “speed” and are addictive. In an investigative report, the American ABC television network said there were reports that during the Gulf War, American pilots became psychologically addicted to the “go pills.” Yet, the report claimed, the Air Force has informed pilots they could be considered unfit to fly certain missions if they did not voluntarily take the pills.

I will be able to give some interesting info, I am ex-airforce, 1999 - 2001, upon basic, around week 4, we were all given ( in my squad ) the sex talk/vids, vaccines, and other shots, Some were told some were not. One guy even went so far to refuse prolly around 4 or 5 attempts to get his shots, even by Tech Instructors, and given a T.I. to yell at you to take a shot is a pretty big deal, what ended up happening was he was released from the Air force, but not after a psych eval, and threatening of court marshal.

Now that wasn't even what I wanted to talk about, that was a tidbit, What I wanted to talk about it My deteriation of my G.I. system upon release of the Air force. I was fine going in, no issues minus ADD that I hid, and worked on Fighter jets as a crew chief, now my Diet wasn't the best, I'll admit that, but I was not over weight, I am 6'3, weighed 180 or so in the military, 220 now. 31 male now.

What happened was, a year after my honorable discharge, I started waking up with flu symtoms, every morning, throwing up till I simply couldnt anymore, I ripped tears in my skin from wretching so hard, after 2 years of this, going to the hospital, being told I prolly just had the flu, or something else, tested, treated, released, relasped. for two years, until I got sick at my Mom's house, who at the time, was an Operating Room RN, and rushed me to the hospital she worked at, within 20 mins of being admited, I was told I needed my gal bladder removed, that
A, I was very young to need this removed I was 24.

I am pretty good now, But Have issues with eating now, a very high acidity of which I take Nexium to control, but still have extreme bouts of nausea and wretching for no reason at times still, specially waking up.

I know it is not along the lines of Speed pills, or other such issues, but I am just shocked at how I was healthy and fine before entering, and afterwards I see all these new issues come up.

Yeah, but how many injections did you have to take to "keep you healthy" or to "vaccinate" you from disease?

There was movie that stuck out to me immediately when you mentioned the hallucinations about demons. It's called "Jacob's Ladder" It was about a soldier who came home, and had to deal with something like that. Pretty scary film. I highly recommend seeing it. Tim Robbins was the star.

Thanks for being one of our soldiers.

Totally believable. Hubby was a civilian working for USACE in Iraq about 2003. Only there a bit shy of 6 months. Healthy as a horse when he left. Came back with excruciating hip pain that took a long time to work out. Then he got hit with GI issues. He lost so much weight he looked skeletal. Finally he took my suggestion (after 18 months now an ORDER) to request a specialist. He was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. No other instances of it, or any related diseases, in his family. Now he'll be on a lifelong hardcore immunity suppressant normally used in cancer patients.
