Hell even if he did steal it and hide it somewhere I don't think he will do it again.

eta Wait a minute they where looking for a stolen xbox and drugs? where the drugs reported stolen with the xbox? How did they get a search warrant for both if it wasn't? Something doesn't smell right here.

I know pretty good solution for situations like this. Every LEA officer should have camera mounted camera, sending live feed (and of course recording). Would be perfect if they have one camera pointing forward and one backwards.
This is already in operation in some countries like Northern Ireland.
In matter of fact I think that would prrevent a lot of police brutality, but also would give evidence against aggresors.

Of course unions would never allow it.

Actually the department I work with is thinking of adopting the radio mics with cameras built in. The reason is that over 90% of the time video actually works in the officer's favor. More often than not it proves that the complaining person was aggressive or failed to comply with multiple request for compliance with a legal order.

They are pricey though. So, it is hard to find money for them when the budget keeps getting cut.

This is criminal behaviour.

So arrest the crims.

Oh, I forgot, they are cops and the cops protect their own.

There is so much corruption in the police force that I would rather deal with a self-confessed criminal.

And, by the way, where is the government while all of this crap happens?

Oh, I forgot, they are off on their expensive taxpayer- funded holidays.

That is truly bizarre and frightening. I wonder what is going through their minds when they are doing this to a person.

Edit: There's no sane reason to bust someones door down and and shoot their dogs over a stolen video game. That can't be legal, it just can't.

I was just shocked and disgusted by the entire situation. Perry Police and Greene County Sheriffs Deputies were serving a search warrant for…of all things…a supposedly stolen X-Box. Jesus age Christ, they got a warrant, kicked in the front door and man handled the family. Oh wait, I almost forgot to mention they were looking for drugs as well. Guess what? NONE of their supposed drugs or stolen game system was found!

So they slam a disabled Chris Spaulding to the floor and then put a knee in his back. Meanwhile, they also tossed his and Matthew’s mother, Susan Mace, to the ground and got Matthew Spaulding as well.

“So I was laying with my face in the ground.” stated Susan Mace.

The best is yet to come! The police, with their patience, integrity and lucid thinking shot the two family dogs in the midst of all this. One of the dogs was lying beside Matthew Spaulding as police handcuffed him. The dog was nudging Matthew’s face and an officer shot the dog! That’s right, in cold blood the dog was shot and then CHASED as it tried to flee. The officers then shot the dog three more times.

The second family dog was running away, trying to escape, when it was also shot and murdered. That’s right. I use the word murder and that is for a reason. Anyone that has ever owned a pet knows that your pet is just like a member of your family. When it gets sick, you take it to the vet, when it DIES you suffer deeply.

Now, I emailed the Perry Police department and gave them a little piece of my mind about this incident. I would like to encourage all of you to email them as well. The only email address on their pathetic mess of a website was [email protected]. I looked all over the Greene County Sheriff's Office web site and couldn’t locate a single email address. I may just give them a call tomorrow at (937) 562-4800. Oh wait…. Their website says they are only open from 8-4 Monday thru Friday…. NICE!

Someone would literally have to be a psychopath to shoot and kill innocent pets. How could they not feel a shred of remorse or empathy? This mentality doesn't compute to me, I just cannot understand it.

Edit:It's different if you're hunting a wild animal and you intend on eating it after, house pets are just off limits.

What happened to the 4th amendment searches and seisures. It has been known for years the police are not to serve and protect but to ticket and harrass. However this has gone to far. This story is very disturbing and unerving. Where is our once great nation heading?

Stories like this make me so glad I live in the UK. I know you guys in the US think we live in a socialist police state but to be honest, the police here wouldn't really give a crap about a stolen x-box and a bag of weed. They would just file a report and say ''there's not much we can do''.

Maybe it seems this way to me because I'm on the right side of the law(at least I appear to be
).

The kid kept beating the Police Commissioner at Call of Duty?

I honestly give up. American police are just as corrupt as British police. Except over there they have all these weird and peculiar federal powers.

Yeah but would the police in the UK even respond to a call about a stolen x-box? I doubt it, see post above.

Regardless of the countries we're in, we need to come together as ATS members to bring this particular situation to the public and justice. I can't go another day watching America become Nazi Germany.

If locals or anyone affected by this are unsure of how to take action, here's a good start:

General

Victims: Matthew Spaulding, father, grandmother (all held at gunpoint), dogs (murdered).
Location: Jefferson, IA
Police stance: Refusing to comment. Refusing to disclose paperwork and reports.
Reason for attack: Victim falsely suspected of being in possession of a stolen X-box. Drug possession was also falsely suspected.

So I am just a law student and not a lawyer but I too checked out the information on Iowa Courts Online. Mr. Spaulding you are doing your story and credibility no favors by posting your words online. The one accurate statement you made was that you do have convictions for serious assault and an aggravated possession with intent to deliver. The one problem I see is that this actually appears to be part of a plea deal. It states that you were actually charged with 1 count of C-Felony Possesion with Intent, 2 counts of Aggravated Misdemeanor Possesion with Intent, and 2 Counts of Tax Violations which are both D Felonies. So in total you were charged with 3 felonies and 2 aggravated misdemeanors. The good part for you is that you were able to make some sort of arrangement where you pled guilty to just the Aggravated Misdemeanors (lucky you). Then on the serious assault you were convicted of you were actually charged with Wilful Injury which is also a Felony and again you were able to plea that down. So in total in the past year you have been charged with 4 Felonies. Mr. Spaulding I would exercise you right to remain silent, the more you say the worse you look, especially when your story can be verified online and yours doenst paint a pretty picture ps. The everyday term for Possession w/ Intent is "Drug Dealing". Mr. Spaulding you are a convicted drug dealer, stop talking

That's my first contribution. Come on Americans. Contribute to this by researching more under the above headings. The next step is to network with all existing individuals and groups who are willing to bring this to justice.

No matter how Spaulding's character is assassinated, there is no excuse for what happened.

Jesus Christ! Do something competent to reverse this!

This can happen to any one of us at any time.

The way they justify these things with "tips" means the police in the US are actively kicking in doors randomly and assaulting and murdering people. As far as any per owner is concerned the pets are people. The loss of a dog is no less painful than the loss of a child.

There is no 4th amendment anymore. It's been ripped to shreds and circumvented by "tips" and "domestic calls" which anyone can place.

Right now there could be armed cops stacking at your door and when the smoke clears it doesn't matter if you've ever done wrong in your life because in the end your world is upside down and they have a million and one excuses for why their assault on you was justified.

A lawsuit won't being your loved ones back. Wont restore your faith in the system. And won't restore your life.

This # needs to stop.

In my opinion if you are capable of killing an animal in cold blood, you can kill a person just the same.
And to me a person's home is sacred. To get a warrant to search a person's home in my opinion should be incredibly difficult, and the evidence overwhelming, not just a tip or hearsay. Hell, I don't set foot in anybody's house if I'm not invited in, even people I know. Sometimes people get offended, but if you don't say come in, I won't. Cops should do the same. Respect goes a long way.

Dogs (like most animals) can sniff out the difference between a human being with a soul, and a demon-possessed husk devoid of any humanity. Naturally, the devil's little foot soldier wasn't happy he got made, so he decided to try and execute the dog.
