HI there... I did hire someone...gave them a chance....in 6 days scheduled...she has been late twice and was out sick today... although she wasn't exactly what I was looking for, I tried to be decent and do the right thing.

Well, how did that work out? She is able to do the job, but has no motivation to do it... no get up and go... and sha has only learned just a tiny bit of what the job entails...

I saw this coming after day three, so I called another guy... let's give him a chance... be decent... do the right thing. Set up an interview for yesterday... sure, " I'll be there"... he wasn't there.

Folks, I run a business in an area where you have to drive an hour to work a decent job or you farm. The job opening is a good job in retail... 40 hours, no weekends, benefits, holidays off, employee discounts, bonuses...I can't find a decent person because you DO have to WORK.. it is not easy... but it is permant fulltime and with growth in the company, you could move up into management.

So say what you will... call me an ass... I don't care... and I am not alone. I deal with contractors, farmers, electricians, all say they can't find someone willing to work.. that means hard work 8-10...sometimes 12 hours a day based on season and weather... and good pay in a downturned economy.... One of them was gonna be decent... do the right thing... hired a guy to work that needed money.. had a family... behind on bills... put him to work... goes to buy lunch, feed the guy... comes back and the guy and his portable air compressor is gone...

So much for the homeless vagrant that needs a job.

don't know exactly what, or how. But the market became flooded with over seas programmers. Basically they were all from India. A project that we would normally bid say, $10k on.. these guys were bidding $1k on. This went on everywhere and pretty soon, IT guys started dropping like flies.

Yeah this is a very disturbing trend. I have worked in the software QA sector for most of my adult life. I have worked for 4 different companies (including the one I am at now) and each one I have been at massively outsourced to India. The last company I worked for was headquartered in the UK, they released a news letter which had pictures of all the employees of the different teams (much like a group class photo) the majority of the teams consisted of at most 25 to 30 people, but the Indian team had 100+ employees most of which were QA testers.

Many of the employees in India appear to very inadequately trained, making our jobs over here a lot harder. Builds coming back broken, tests not being fully completed, obvious issues such as crashes and performance problems overlooked. I just don't understand it, most of these guys over there have degrees! I never went to school for the work I do. And thanks to these outsourcing practices the job I have now (which is with a major fortune 500 company) is not secure and I will more than likely be unemployed by spring next year. And finding a job in the QA field out here in Los Angeles is no easy task.

We really need to stop outsourcing it is killing our economy.

I agree completely and know exactly what they are talking about in the article. I have an office management job but only barely make it. I can't save for anything and when something goes wrong financially I always barely dodge disaster. My credit is not horrible but is bad because I fall behind on payments for a few weeks here and there. I want to get engaged but am having trouble getting my credit in line or afford a ring right now. I am part of the 99% thats employed and wishing I could dig my way out of this hole.

So stop blaming the wages while the whales are swimming in the cash...

It was the blog that said it,not me. I dont agree with all of it,except the part where those who believe that a President is going to solve their problems, and vote for him, find out its BS,then harp on the fact its still messed up....

Well,what DO they expect?

To add, last winter I sent out locally over 2500 resumes in 30 days, and not one response, I was very persistant with all that had potential... heard them all, over qualified, not enough training, you don't want this job, ( I liked that one)

I'm thinking porn? But I'm very mountain man looking, not too appealing

NOW IS THE TIME MORE THAN EVER TO START ALTERNATIVE/INTENTIONAL COMMUNITIES.

Both Communism and Capitalism have failed... but that's like saying Coke and Pepsi are unhealthy... that's like saying Reps and Dems are corrupt... IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING.

CIVILIZATION HAS FAILED.

It's time to live a PEACEFUL Mad Max...

Time to research, engage with, and develop localized, egalitarian, non-hierarchical, sustainable, free, and HUMAN communities.

Global micro communities. I've been talking about it for years. Decentralization is the future. The more that are disenfranchised, can just opt into a new system of their own creation.

That's unfortunate, but at least you are giving these people a chance. Then you can say that as an employer, it's not your fault that people are unemployed, because you have done your part to try and put these people to work with a decent job. I admire the [fact] that you are at least trying to help some people who need jobs, even when they don't do their part.

I agree... Nothing will change... It's only an illusion of change... This is a bankers world and we are just pawns to operate their machines that produce them wealth and power...

Slavery never ended it just morphed...

That wouldn't solve all the issues... Only 10%, maybe... Look Libya had plenty given to them and look what happened. They didn't have to worry about energy and they folded. No thanks to TPTB and neo-nazis... Either way I agree civilization has failed. There are too many temptations for corruption and not enough regulations. The problem is we had the bankers write the regulations so they knew what loopholes were there to take advantage of.

This is what happens when crooks run things... The USA is nothing more than a Mob strong-holding people to do their wishes.

"Hey Scotty, have you fixed that damn teleportor yet?"

It is a big and terrible problem. There are not enough jobs and for the few jobs that are left employers always ask 10 years of working experience. It is the new generation that had nothing to do with creating the economic crisis that now have to pay for it. Not just pay financially, but also mentally and in terms of quality of life.
It is also terrible for society and economy as a whole: it is such a huge waste of young talent. And what surprises me must is that politicians in many countries rarely speak about it and just don't care. I forsee a radical social and political change in the coming years in several countries. It can not continue the way it goes now.
