I have flown hundreds of times since 2001 and I have never felt raped or felt up by the TSA. You simply go through the metal detector, take off your shoes, and they scan you with a wand. Now they also have you go through a body scan. It is really no big deal. In fact the only part that pisses me off is taking off my shoes or belt because then I have to put them back on. I think if you ever flew you would realise it is not that bad.

Or go through the scanner or don't fly. You don't have to fly. Also, it's not like they pull out you giblets and palm them. People are to embarrassed by their own bodies shortcomings.

So, the options are either get felt up, drive or don't see your family at all this holiday season. Why would anyone defend the TSA?

LOL or the other option is to chill out and let them pat you down if they feel a need to. Its not like they are trying to cop a feel. They are just trying to keep you safe from potential terrorists. Did you forget that there has been several terrorist attempts on planes since 2001?

My grand daughter watched Grandpa and me pack our tent and camping gear into our car and said, "But Grandma, you said you would never go camping again, you hate tenting."

I explained about OWS to her and she wanted to come but I told her, "no, it's too dangerous some people might go crazy and get nasty".

She replied, "Oh, but Grandma, I can run really fast and I'm pretty good at defending myself if I have too!"

She also has seen me write my weekly e-mail to Obama and my monthly e-mails to my State Reps.

We were talking about her great, great, great..........grandmother, who was a "Daughter of Liberty". We did a report on how these brave women

helped end the Stamp Act in 1766. In 1774, the patriot women helped influence a decision made by the Continental Congress to boycott all British goods. In order to support the men on the battlefield, the women made bullets and sewed uniforms. They raised funds for the army and made and circulated protest petitions. Source: en.wikipedia.org...

I am also getting involved with Democracy Now.

As a child I was always told, "If you ever get lost go to a policeman and he will help you."

I no longer tell my grand daughter that. I tell her to be very respectful but to keep her eyes and ears open and her mouth shut. Try to stay out of any kind of trouble, things change and you must learn to adapt. I have also told her and my three sons, "If you hear a really big bang, a gun fire - get down and behind something that might block bullets."

What will I tell her and my three grown sons....................I tried, even at the hurt and humiliation of being ridiculed I tried to wake people up and warn them.

If any soldier or police were to approach my ten year old grand daughter in a threatening manner, they would have to get through me first and yes, I do own a gun and I have learned how to shoot it accurately.

The gun is registered, locked up and hidden, she does not know about it.

I have faced a gun pointed at me before (it was a big one too)................I turned and walked away and thankfully that was the end of another interesting incident in my life.

Facing a gun (one big enough to blow your head off) is very scary.

I have also faced a line of police when I demonstrated against the Vietnam War in St. Louis. The Police had their clubs out and helmets on. That too was quite intimidating.

The Police at OWS where we were this time were polite, edgy but polite.

When I die, I have about 300 hard books on Politics, World Events, Conspiracies, UFO's, Psychology, Travel, The Early West, Native Americans, Quantum Physics, The Classics, Science Fiction, Star Gazing, Social Injustice Practices and various other topics............I also have about 1,300 e-books.

I have requested my son's either read the books I have, divide them up and or give some of them to my grand daughter.

my books, what I have highlighted and notes within will be part of my legacy left after I am gone..........in 30 years my husband and I will probably not be here.

We don't have 30 years...................in many ways we are already a Corporate Dictatorship that is enforced by the police and soon the military.

Read Naomi Wolf's two books, "Give Me Liberty" and "The End of America".

I suggested to ATS members to read these two books a couple years back to no avail.

My oldest son, my grand daughter's father is currently reading, "Urban Survival" by David Morris

I'll ride the bus

See guys you do have options. I haven't heard of too many people getting 'fingered' in the screening line. I know a large number of frequent fliers who are mildly annoyed at the procedure but that's about it. I'm secure enough with myself to enjoy the occasional pat down. It's like a strip club in a bad neighborhood. Just squint your eyes and it's OK.

When you go through the scanner you appear completely naked to the person at the control panel and it's on a data base.

I won't even go into the possible medical aspects.

It's the psychological factor you refuse to see.....................you are allowing yourself and your children to be handled exactly like cattle.

The State has taken away your human dignity and privacy.

What is sad is you don't even see this and now accept this as "the norm"...........step by step, inch by inch.

And once another freedom has been taken away, it is impossible to regain it without bloodshed.

I'm sure it's on Ebay somewhere. By the way, don't de-rail my thread. I'm sure you can find something more useful to do besides defend the TSA and alienate everyone who is trying to have a discussion in this thread.

The funny part is you seem unaware it is already a police state. How much more do they have to do to make you realize it is a police state? Do they have to have a German accent when they demand, "Your papers, please,"?

When I was a kid, it was the Cold War. The Russians were the bad guys. Movies would show you how their evil empire was in total oppression. In Moscow, cops and KGB agents would randomly stop people and demand ID from them, and then frisk them. There were cameras everywhere. The govt spied on everyone all the time. It was horrible! The very epitome of a police state!

In older movies, the Germans were the bad guys. Everyone "knows" there were jackbooted Nazis and SS officers everywhere, demanding, "Your papers!" They didn't have much for cameras back then, but they had, you know, cops everywhere jacking people up for no reason, and all military like, armed to the teeth. The govt spied on everyone all the time. They could throw you in jail for any trumped up reason. Total police state.

Now, it's not like that in the USA. It's totally free. Like, democracy, dude. Right?

Last time I was in NYC, there were cops dressed like military, all black. I'm not even sure if they were cops, but they had dogs, too. They were randomly searching people on the subway. Everyone seemed to think this was normal.

They grope everyone in the airport. Everyone seems to think this is normal. I've stood in three hour lines, waiting for some high school dropout to give everyone the full cavity search, and heard more than one person just blurt out, "If it keeps us safe from the terrorists, I'm all for it!"

Cops pull people over by the thousands each day, tazing grannies and crackheads alike. Fines must be paid by all. Everyone seems to think this is normal.

There are cameras everywhere, watching you. Everyone seems to think this is normal.

This site, and all others, and every single email, phone call, tweet, facebook post, IM, text, fax, blog, etc. are ALL one hundred percent monitored by the government. Everyone seems to think this is normal.

You pay for all this by being taxed to within an inch of your lives. Everyone seems to think this is normal.

But it's not a police state. It's.....it's a democracy, dude! See, we can stand around with signs, not even really DOING anything but making noise. You know, not really having any effect on, well, anything. But we're PROTESTING, man! And the cops only crack a few peoples skulls. You know, not everybody or anything. Not like they're shooting anyone or taking anyone to jail. It's democracy, bro! Check out the freedom!

Honestly, My biggest concern with it is these pictures taken with the scanners. I know they SAY that they are not saved, but here's the point. A computer saves a copy of everything viewed on it. If you went to a porn site, for example, and then checked your tmp directory; you would find the images saved there. yes they eventually get deleted, usually when the PC is shut down/rebooted or the cache is cleared. but when a file is deleted from a computer it is merely flagged to be overwritten. This means that it can be un-flagged. The DoD doesn't allow it's Laptops that are to be decommissioned to have hard drives when sold for this very reason; the data, even after a DoD wipe *could* be recovered. Also, do you REALLY thing they delete it? I don't. Our government has been (Probably accurately) of taping phones, putting cameras in homes, they spy on us. Who's to say someone, weather a TSA official or some tech maintaining the machines or whoever wont find the tmp files or undelete them to sell to a porn site? I refuse to trust our government, they have failed us too many times.

But yeah, I can drive, take the bus, or use a smaller airport. Albany doesn't have it, and neither does Charlotte. So it hasn't his EVERY airport yet.

I agree. It's sick. But wouldnt the blame of all this be placed upon you and your generations shoulders?? You have been electing and cultivating this problem, not us. So spare me the dude drama. If you and your generation were as tough as you say you are we wouldnt be here.

The awareness of my generation (20's 30's) is amazing. When we become the decision makers things are going to change, no thanks to you.

My youngest daughter (now three) is the only one still in the States. As soon as she is old enough for school she will leave the USA, like her sister...so that question will never arise.
As for explaining how the West fell into a Corporatist uber-State (fascist/communist for those that are not ideologically literate), if they don't figure it out for themselves, I would give them the Works of Thomas Paine:
- “The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion.”
- “Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.”
- “'Tis the business of little minds to shrink; but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death.”
- "Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one."

Forgot a couple of those, haven't we?
Just a small taste. Now to respond to certain issues:

a) Flying, or not flying is as an option. It may be for some, but not for me. I have to constantly fly between North America, Europe, and Asia...no option here, unless I stop doing what I love to do.
That said, never had a problem with TSA (aside from a couple of items stolen at JFK)...but who knows it was them? On the other hand, it maybe because I only fly first class...and BA my check-in is separated from the general one...

b) Road Travel. Far worst then flying, unless you happen to own a custom car building works, like me, and strip your personal vehicles of all electronic surveillance equipment. Again, that didn't keep me from getting two tickets, in the UK, due to my average speed, while diving rentals (wonder how they manage to obtain average speeds).
I always feel like bursting into laughter every time I drive on a "FREE-WAY"...hows that for a joke?

c) Most people have a very short memory-span, tending to forget the lessons of the past. The majority of people opted for the Police State. When I started warning them, some decades ago, the answer was generally: "I have nothing to hide, and trust my government so [...]. Only criminal...blah, blah, blah..."
Yep, in those days (a decade or two ago, I'm not that old), it was the general consensus that only criminals, that obviously had things to hide, should object to having their rights violated..."normal citizens" had the duty to cooperate with the State...

d) Societies regularly rise and fall, go from increased freedoms into totalitarianism, and, hopefully, into new periods of freedom...until "We the People" start forgetting being sheep again, and the wolves come knocking...nothing new under the sun...

e) As for the topic being placed in a Paranormal forum, I find it fitting. It is truly Paranormal that I should have much more freedoms in Russia or Vietnam, then I have in the so-called Western Democracies

Keep the hope alive, like always things will get far worst before they get better, and then they will get worst again...
Thought Humans where supposed to be an Intelligent Species...think not!

I shall finish with some more Thomas Paine:
"He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from oppression."

Good luck to us all...I think we are going to need it. Unfortunately I happen not to believe in luck. Hope Karma is also a fallacy, otherwise "We The People" have tons of bad Karma coming our way...

Stay safe!
