Well OWS Oakland has taken the Port of Oakland. They have shut it down and the police and other city officials are saying it will not open again until the OWS crowd lets it.

02.14 GMT: Protesters creating picket lines at Port of Oakland gates to prevent workers from entering for night shift

"At this time, maritime operations are effectively shut down at the Port of Oakland. Maritime area operations will resume when it is safe and secure to do so," the port said in a written statement to Reuters.

Video during the vandalism at Whole Foods. Looks like the peaceful protesters and anarchists are in a bit of a fight

The above...I support......we don't need no stinkin' imports! Go USA...support "Made in America"...Transfer those port jobs straight over to production jobs!!! Even the anti-OWS can't argue with that, no? ....although, I'm 100% certain, they will find their own twisted way to support the continuing export of American jobs.

Looks like someone got hit by a car.

www.pri.org...

Shortly before 8 p.m. in Oakland, one protester was shown on video being struck by a vehicle. Emergency officials were on the scene, tending to the injured.

Also, it seems that the police are trying to stay away from the protest as much as possible

Media in San Francisco have reported as many as 10,000 people turned out for this "general strike," but so far police have been relatively absent in the wake of the violent conflict between police and protesters about a week ago.

Not really sure what happened that caused the person to get hit by the car, but RT is saying the car tried to speed through the crowd and people jumped on it

02.28 GMT: RT's Lucy Kafanov: Car just tried speeding through crowd and several hundred protesters jumped on it hitting windows and chanting

I'm sure those workers who are putting food on the table and paying their bills but can't get through to their jobs will be loving the OWS crowd.

Unless they still get paid anyway. Then they'll be lovin' it. A day off! Who doesn't like a paid day off.

From msnbc.com:

About 360 Oakland teachers didn't show up for work, or roughly 18 percent of the district's 2,000 teachers, said Oakland Unified School District spokesman Troy Flint. The district has been able to get substitute teachers for most classrooms, and where that wasn't possible children were sent to other classrooms, he said.

18% of teachers abandoned their students today. Go unions...yay.
